I have so many conflicting thoughts on my boss. Sometimes, I really like him, like how you can joke around with him and when he tells me really likes what he sees with me and my work ethic. But other times he is just such a fucking douchebag. Like yesterday. My shift starts at 10, I got in about 9:55 and the first thing I always do when I come in is clock in because if I don't do it immediately, I forget. I walked over to do that, with my bagel and slim-fast (lunch) in hand and right after, I went back to our fridge (this is all in the same big room, btw) to put them in there and he said "Hey, do your bagel on your time. You're clocked in, this is work time." and I'm like, DUDE. i wasn't eating it, that I could understand, I WAS JUST PUTTING IN THE FRIDGE. JESUS. Sorry I wasted that precious 28 seconds of your time. >:(
Most of yesterday I had to pack up orders (which I hate) and with the big boxes, I have a little trouble getting the tape on there just way he likes it. Like, okay, we have to put the boxes together, right? They come flat and we just fold them up, you know? But when the box is first empty, taping the bottom is pain in the ass and I can't keep the flaps down and straight and use the horrible packing tape thing to pull it down tight on both sides. Once the box is full, it's a little easier, but I prefer to tear the tape off first, it's easier and it doesn't require as much coordination and arm strength. When he saw one of my box jobs, he didn't like how it looked and proceeded to show me how to do it (again) and I told him I don't like using that tape dispenser, I'm not strong enough to pull it as tight as he does with the tape dispenser (
this is what I'm talking about, btw. IDK if it has a more obvious name) and he told me, "Dang, girl you need to be working out! Doing some push-ups!" and I know he didn't mean it that badly but it made me feel SO shitty. I'm LOL sensitive enough when it comes to being criticized on my appearance, I really didn't need to hear that.
And like, he just won't ever let me explain myself or let me get my train of thought out before he cuts me off. Yes, I'm still new, he's the owner, he knows what to do better than I do, but I hate not being heard. Like, today, he saw that there were still some problem orders in our bin and he said "Okay, this is priority, these are our fault and they need to taken care of before anything else, okay?" and I kept trying to say "I know, I know, but I tried to find those tournaments and they're gone, even on the back-up drive." but he just steamrolled over me until I finally got that out and then he was like "Oh. Let me look." and then the goddamn back-up drive had them but was being painfully slow, so he unplugged them and told me try again later and when I did, the computer didn't even fucking recognize it. (I hate this computer so much and wish to throw it in the Marianas Trench) It's just all very frustrating. There really should be two people doing my job and the girl that comes in at night 3 times a week is only doing about half of what she should (she's about to quit, my boss is about to fire her. it's like out of a sitcom) but I can't make all the normal tournament orders, the webstore orders, the problem orders, the mail-ins and deal with customer service and pack everything and put all the new tournaments up online. It really feels like way too much, especially for a n00b like me. Blah.
So what else! Oh yeah, my mother is having the world's most epic yard sale this weekend. We have over 1000 items under $5 and I am not exaggerating. And that doesn't include all the items over $5. It's gonna be crazy. But Saturday afternoon, once it's over, my friend Adam and I are going to Cherokee for weekend of gambling, horrible Christmas-themed amusement parks (that, ironically enough, are NOT open at Christmas time) and getting super, super drunk. So that should be fun.
In other news, TV is so good so far this premiere season. Gossip Girl was EXCELLENT on Monday, Modern Family was extra hilarious tonight, Boardwalk Empire definitely caught my interest from its pilot (also Michael Pitt looks like TAI!Tomrad in his newsboy cap and it makes me want prohibition AUs), even Glee had some great moments (also not-so great ones. but I loved that opening and I want the Britney Spears episode right now) and Vampire Diaries continues to be the best and Nikita is ridiculous but almost entirely about two badass, awesome ladies working together to take down a secret government agency which is just AWESOME and I'm currently downloading Undercovers. Also yay, Community tomorrow and Dexter on Sunday! Yay TV! \o/
