I've never been a big Rigsby/Van Pelt 'shipper - nothing in particular against the pairing; I just don't think they have much chemistry - but there are some moments between them that I really love, and the end of 'Like a Redheaded Stepchild' is one of them. Van Pelt is engaged to someone else, but when Rigsby kisses her it's not an invitation to ( Read more... )

the mentalist, crossovers, conversational adventures, silent hill, fanfiction, someone should probably write that

oh my god they forced you guys to watch this episode in two parts? D: That's cruel and unusual.

Everyone on twitter is just jealous.

I know! The monsters! I didn't realise until checking the episode name for this entry that America had seen both parts together. Clearly I need to move to America so this never happens again.

For now, though, I suppose I just have to hang on until next Friday.

What is it about Jane that makes me want to read phonesex? I suppose it's because Jane in my personal canon never actually has sex; phonesex is something that can be sexual for one of the pair, whereas the other is just enjoying constructing a scenario (and occasionally throwing entirely unerotic comments in, just to be a pain in the neck).

Also, phone sex where one of the characters is amazingly good at manipulating people by talking to them is an incredibly fascinating idea. There's typically a certain vulnerability in erotic situations anyway, and Lisbon would be very aware of Jane's penchant for mind games and manipulation and quite likely he would be more interested in playing games than in actual sex, and she'd have to trust him that these were well-intentioned games of the sort she wouldn't seriously object to (because he would at least be somewhat annoying at times, that's certain).

Wait, was it predictable or just foreseeable? The latter is a good thing, even if it has the potential to reduce the element of surprise; shock ( ... )

You haven't actually watched The Mentalist, have you? I'm amazed by how good a grasp you have of the characters.

That is a really good point. It's probably quite likely that Lisbon would flat-out refuse to have phone sex with him, actually. FINE, LISBON, RUIN MY DREAMS.

I miss my icon of Lisbon on the phone. It would be ideal here.

I bought a DVD as research for the Mentalist/Psych crossover no one would read even if I wrote it am just really good at characterization of every character ever! It's my superpower!

Yeah, she probably wouldn't go for it. Although he might pull the "I'll just surreptitiously turn this conversation into phone sex" trick.

Derren Brown and Patrick Jane... they would see it as some sort of competition, wouldn't they?

I think I am a year younger than you, and there were two Harriets (actually, I think one was spelt Harriett) in my year. Also, it's a great name.

Hee, thank you!

I remember reading a genderswitched retelling of Final Fantasy VIII a long time ago, and being confused by the fact that female-Seifer's name was 'Seiferat'. What sort of feminine ending was that? What male name would become female when an ending like that was adde- oh.

Admittedly, I don't think I would immediately view "-at" as the same sort of ending as "et/ette" (it doesn't appear to derive from French!). But possibly studying language a bit makes one unable to see the wood for the trees ...

Faily phonesex! Why have I never considered that for fic? I love faily everything-else-sex.

I think I actually wrote a snippet of faily phonesex once! Also featuring Patrick Jane, naturally. It's over here.

(...although, looking at the comments to that entry, I see you've already read it. NEVER MIND.)

asdfghjkl! I watched this! I've also watched the next episode.

I want the next series to happen SO BADLY

And I totally didn't expect Lisbon to be STRAPPED TO A BOMB. But the two of them together were ~marvellous~ :>

I RESENT EVERYONE WHO HAS SEEN THE SECOND HALF OF THE FINALE.

They were so wonderful together! I wish this show had a bigger fandom.
