Walk Fast From That Boring Explosion.

Goodness, you're all being very quiet. A new series of Doctor Who, and there are only three reaction posts on my flist? What parallel universe have I fallen into?

Reaction to the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who, 'The Impossible Astronaut'. )

crossovers, weird pairings, doctor who, supernatural, video, harry potter

You have no idea how tempted I am to bombard you with fake spoilers right now. (Doctor Who is so big that the States get to see it on the same day as us? That's quite cool.)

That would be very cruel indeed. (I know, right? They first aired the latest Christmas special at the same time- I suppose it did pretty well.)

Okay, I am intensely confused now. But I'm putting my faith in the Moff that all these crazy shenanigans will make sense eventually, if not in the next episode than by the end of the season.

both 'Ron Weasley' and 'Amy Pond' were trending. That's a pairing I could get behind, actually.

I'd also be in favour of Amy turning out to be a long-lost member of the Weasley family. Someone must have written this, surely?

OH GOD SHE SO COULD BE. The Weasleys do have that accountant cousin, right?

It was great! I just wish my live feed didn't buffer every 2 minutes. But I'll watch it again to pick up what I missed.

Amy reminded me a lot of myself in this episode. The reading up on the Doctor's historical moments, trying to be the one to save him and getting all upset instead of being pragmatic, and the mobile photo (which I've been doing constantly lately to remind myself of things on campus to look up later).

I loved the discussion of the merits/failures of Nixon's presidency between 11 and River, since I just did that topic in my history lecture a few weeks ago.
And I liked the screamer line, just because I like it when double entendres are slipped in for the older audiences. Also every flirt between River and 11 makes me happy.

RORY--yay for Rory, that's a great thing. He's very good at being patient and logical, which can be rare for a companion.

Also, did anyone think that Moff was implying Delaware was gay when he said he wanted to get married but it was illegal? Or is it my queer goggles?

I didn't 'get' that line when I watched, and then just after posting this entry I saw a mention of it on my flist and had an 'Oh. Oh!' moment. Continue being a bit gay on my television, Mark Sheppard; I enjoy it immensely.

Rory's quite a sensible chap, isn't he? I liked how reluctant he was to go down into the scary tunnels.

RIVER SONG THIS IS A FAMILY PROGRAMME.

But it was okay when Jack did it?

There was originally going to be a line in this entry saying 'yes, I know you're essentially a mixture of the Doctor and Jack Harkness, but I'm not sure even Jack was quite that innuendoish', and then it occurred to me that it was quite possible he was and it went over my head back in 2005 because I was a freakishly innocent seventeen-year-old. So, er, it was okay when Jack did it because I didn't notice?

Jack was ferociously filled with innuendo, hence the "what are you the captain of, the innuendo squad?" line. ;) I really, really wish River and Jack could meet. I imagine they would fuck like bunnies and then squabble over the Doctor.

River and Jack meeting would be fantastic. Doctor Who would never qualify as a family programme again, but I think it would be worth it.

I saw a magazine in the shop with a front cover proclaiming that one of the Doctor, River, Amy and Rory would die in the first episode.

Oh, is that what that was?

rionaleonhart April 23 2011, 20:39:54 UTC
It was! I was annoyed because I thought it was essentially equivalent to saying 'RORY DIES' on the front cover; I'm glad I turned out to be wrong.
