My oral surgery took less than an hour and didn't hurt during the
process. Of course the anesthetic started to wear off on the way home (45 minute drive). I took a painkiller (a blend of codeine - I think - and acetaminophen) almost two hours ago. While it seemed to help at first with pain, about an hour after taking it I felt woozy and dizzy and hot and had to lay down for a bit. I'm a bit better now (since I'm at my computer posting) but I can sure see why you aren't supposed to drive while taking this painkiller! There's still a bit of pain but it's not too bad.
My mouth is still a bit numb so I can't smile or talk very well, but it looks much better than I expected. When I do smile, it looks kinda like I have braces on my lower teeth as there is a piece of foil protecting the surgical pack, which is like a piece of silly putty on my gum. It was easier to eat (yogurt) than I thought, as I'm not supposed to take the meds on an empty stomach.
I'll take another med at 5:30 PM today (supposed to go at least six hours between doses) and then see how it goes this evening, taking another at 11:30 PM if I'm awake and it's needed. I'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow morning, but I might go to work for part of the day.
