wow, its been like 2 years since i last updated this thing...well not THAT long, but a while. i got back from florida on friday and i still am not out of vacation mode. i better snap out of it quick though, seeing as i have class in less than 10 hours. i should probably be studying, cuz all of my professors for some reason thought that it would be a good idea to have exams this week. im not kidding either, i have huge exams in every single one of my classes. hows that for a harsh reality check after spending a week on the beach!?
speaking of the beach...i guess now is as good a time as any to update about my wonderful spring break. it wasnt really all that great, but it wasnt duluth, and thats definitely an improvement, no matter how you look at it. we left duluth at noon on friday the 14th and after stopping in shoreview and rochester, we got to orlando at 5:00PM eastern time on saturday. we were so tired that all we wanted to do was go to sleep, but we went grocery shopping and then crashed into bed. we only ended up spending about $40 for the 4 of us, so $10 each. that was a pretty good deal, i thought we would spend way more. we woke up kinda late on sunday morning and decided to drive out to cocoa beach. it was beautiful outside, sunny and warm. there were beached jelly fish EVERYWHERE, and we didnt want to go in the water and get stung, so we laid out on the beach for about an hour before we decided that it was time to eat lunch. we got the cooler out of the car and made sandwiches and ate strawberries and drank capri suns. after we were done eating sandy went to go put the cooler back into the trunk and plug the meter. she came back asking me where i had put our toll change. i told her that it was in the cup holder, but she said she looked there. i went to go show her where it was, but when i got to the car, i couldnt find it either! i opened up the armrest, thinking maybe it was in there, but it wasnt, and our travelers checks were gone too!!! so we packed everything up and headed for home so we could call american express and make a claim immediately. that ended our day at the beach pretty quickly. sandy then decided that this bad thing happened to us because we hadnt gone to church. so she found a church by my uncles house that had an evening service. it was this teeny tiny little spanish-speaking church. we went to the service and made up about 1/4 of the entire congregation. the pastor prayed for us in his sermon and afterwards everyone came up to say hi and give us hugs and thank us for coming. it was really nice. when we got back from the service we grilled chicken and made fries in the oven, then we went out to see how to lose a guy in 10 days. i thought it was really funny, considering how true so many of the things were that happened in the movie. the next day we decided to give the gulf coast a try. since i had been to ana maria island so many times in the past, i suggested that we go there. the other girls agreed, even though it WAS a bit of a drive. we got to the beautiful white sand beach and decided to eat lunch on the beach right away. not a good idea. the seagulls also decided that it was lunch time. we were seriously ATTACKED by at least 30 seagulls, no joke. they were flocking around us and pecking at us; one even stole a sandwich right out of amandas hand!! after we salvaged what was left of the coolers contents, we drove to another spot on the beach where the seagulls didnt know us. we were able to play in the water for probably a good hour, then we laid out for maybe another hour before storm clouds started to roll in. we left the beach right before it started downpouring. we ate dinner at arbys on the way home, since tiff had never had it. when we finally got home we decided that we deserved a night out. it took a while for 4 girls and one bathroom to get ready, so by the time we were ready to leave it was about 10:30. we got to universal city walk at like 11:00 only to find out that we would only be able to dance for like an hour, since we were all under 21. we could have gotten into this teen night club, but since im 20, i wouldnt have been able to go, so that was dumb. we went into the hardrock to look around, and asked the waiters where we should go. they all said we should go to downtown orlando to church street and orange ave because thats where all the night clubs are. so we drove down there and to make a long story short, our 2 little small town princesses got "bad feelings" and refused to go into any of the clubs. sandy even started crying. great. so we went home and went to bed. what a wonderful evening!! i was pretty peeved, as was amanda. we came soooo close, twice to having a good night, but it didnt happen. before we went to bed that night, amanda and i both needed to vent, so we grabbed a flashlight and went for a walk. we just walked around keiths neighborhood for a while and we ended up seeing an armadillo!!!! who knew that they had armadillos just running rampant!? it was the weirdest thing i think i have ever seen. i thought it was someones pet, or had escaped from the zoo or something. but no, they just have wild armadillos in florida i guess. anyway, that was monday. tuesday we decided to skip the beach, since they had been a disaster twice already. we went to wet 'n' wild, which is this awesome water park. i dont know if it was worth the $40 that we each spent, but it was a good time. the lines werent too long, and the wave pool and lazy river were a lot of fun. sandy brought her waterproof camera, so the pictures will be fun to get back. we picnicked in the parking lot behind our car, and then decided to call it a day since rain clouds were starting to form. we got back home and keith was making meatloaf. he told us that one of his "much younger" friends was coming over to help him with his computer, and he might want to take us out and show us around. turns out, this guy chris was like 25 and later told us that keith had called him just to have him come take us out. well babies sandy and tiffany refused to go out, saying that they would much rather stay at home and watch movies! i couldnt believe it, but at least they werent ruining my time. they said they didnt care at all if amanda and i went out to the clubs with chris. so after begging him to drive us (he wanted us to meet himi there) we finally got him to agree to pick us up. so amanda and i got ready and chris came back and picked us up a little later. we went to this club, and it was really nice. when we walked into the bathroom there was an attendant handing out paper towels, and the counter tops were lined with any kind of make up that we could have ever wanted. i didnt use any of it though, im pretty sure that that is how diseases are spread. but anyway, we had an awesome time at the club, we met some guys from france, and i met a guy named santiago from peru who i danced with all night. he didnt speak much english, but he was fun to dance with and nice to look at :0). we didnt end up hanging out with chris and his friends at all...i think he just drove us there out of pity...plus he was hanging out with some other people, and we didnt want to intrude. we didnt end up getting out of there till like 2:30 and didnt get home till like 3:00. it was a good night, and we crashed into bed and fell asleep immediately. we woke up kinda late on wednesday and decided to go to daytona beach, you cant really go to florida on spring break and not hit daytona. it was packed on the beach, but cool cuz we could drive the car right up onto the sand. we didnt really get in the water very much cuz it was pretty cold. we laid out for about an hour and then it started thundering and lightening. on our way back from the beach we decided to stop at american express and get our travelors checks refunded. while we were inside processing all the paperwork, we got a frickin parking ticket!!! what are the odds, seriously!? $22 wasted! anyway, we came back from the beach and ate lasagna and cheesy bread, it was really good. we then decided to go out to a movie. we saw chicago. i thought it was just ok, nothing too special. but then again, i guess im just not the musical type. we decided that since the weather was supposed to be really bad the rest of the week that we should leave the next night (thursday) instead of friday night as we had planned. so thursday morning we went to get the oil changed in the car and then we went mini golfing. we came back and packed up the car and took keith out to dinner at golden corral. it was a nice dinner. we headed home at about 7:00pm eastern time and got to rochester at about 5:00pm central time on friday. looking back on my break its kinda funny: we got our travelers checks stolen, we were attacked by seagulls, we were rained out, we got a parking ticket, and only got out dancing once. all in all it sounds pretty crappy, but i really did have a good time. we laughed a TON and i guess we learned a few lessons too. i have been basically just resting up for school since we got back. i spent the weekend with my parents, had lunch with booth at brueggers today, and here i am, back in duluth. anyway, i guess i should be getting to sleep, its back to the daily grind first thing in the morning!
