Valentine's Day Ball: The Grounds

Feb 15, 2006 13:26

The grounds of Ringmore Suites extend quite far, for all that it is centered in Tamarind. The gardens are seperated by low box hedges, carefully trimmed into perfect rectangular shapes. The closest garden to the hotel is a formal affair, an English garden with perfect geometic shapes bordered by perfect stone paths. In the chill of late winter, ( Read more... )

Magical Mayhem || The Red Room, around 10:40: Lee and Crowley -- When the Fallen Fight

[ooc: There may be a few minutes worth of time for interaction with either Lee or Crowley after this. Lee's headed out into the gardens (brothers_three: Loz, now would be the time, I'm thinking). Crowley back into the Ball. Both have engagements that must begin around 11, so no long conversations are possible. OOC reactions following the link above. IC reactions here - people outside might've witnessed this fight, people mystically attuned may have felt the flare of power here. If you want them to, they can. And they'd almost certainly feel it as soon as Lee starts flinging the shrubbery around in the next post (which is very much WIP and sexx0rs) or when Crowley and Anita get to going, which is about 10 minutes after this post, 15 max.]

Once outside, Loz picked a direction and headed in it. The grounds were quite large and there were plenty of places for more privacy than being in plain view. He slowed so George wouldn't have to rush to keep up with him. "So what about you? Do you have family here or are you a girl alone in the city?"

George fell into step beside Loz, still shaking her head over the sheer number of high society drunks at this party. She took in a deep breath before answering his question. "It's just me out here; all my family lives in Seattle, on the west coast," she said with a sigh. "I have a little sister, Reggie. She's still in school." She looked up at Loz. "You said you lived in Fandom, before. What brought you to Metropolis?"

"Couple of things. Mostly to get out of Fandom. We were unhappy there. It just wasn't a good fit," Loz tilted his head to look at her. "You know? And there was someone here we came to be closer to. To keep an eye on her."

George snorted. "Do I ever," she agreed darkly. "I was only too happy to get the hell out of there." She cocked her head, curious at his second reason for leaving the island. "Like, is she a relative?"

Fists clenched and shaking, wrists and palms streaked with blood, Lee stormed past C into the gardens. She had to get somewhere, anywhere, she could calm down.

Formal gardens. Peaceful. Late, no one would be out. Good idea.

And if she ripped up a bunch of bonzai, who the fuck would care or know come morning?

Eyes blazing bright blue power she could no longer dampen and could barely control, her only thought was to get away from innocents. Without risking flight.

"We consider her one," he said with a shrug. "She had a hard time a while back and...well...we got sort of concerned about her."

Loz noticed movement to his right and he just turned to it long enough to see who it was. Fucking hell she looked hot, her red hair was accented by that small black number she was barely wearing.

However, by the way she held her shoulders, he could tell something wasn't qutie right. Her anger...rage, screamed around her in a vortex of energy that nearly crackled, causing the hair to stand up on his arms.

He stopped walking and frowned as he watched her...not walk...stalk with a dangerous prowl he recognized and knew....this couldn't be good.

She felt him as much as saw him. You couldn't fuck someone the way she'd fucked him without becoming hyper-aware of them. At least, not if you were a fallen angel. Not to mention the dark and bright energies that swirled off him.

Loz.

Her eyes blazed out, defiant. Would he get in her way? She stopped. Turned. Looked back at him.

The expression that met her gaze was one of understanding. And concern.

And he had a girl with him. Whatever the girl was, she wasn't like her. Or Loz. That much she could understand. Someone she needed to be away from. Loz would understand. He always did.

Without a word or a nod or a gesture, she moved off. Stalking somewhere to unleash her fury.

"That's cool," George said, nodding. She understood about second families well enough; Daisy and Mason had sorta stepped in to fill certain roles in her life. So had Rube, in a way, no matter how much she would otherwise deny it.

Loz came to an abrupt stop, and she yelped, barely able to keep from crashing into him. She righted herself and looked up questioningly, finding that he was staring into the distance. She followed his gaze and saw...

Well, she wasn't quite sure what the hell she saw. A woman -- one of the most beautiful she'd probably ever seen, if it hadn't been for the blood and the wild blue light streaming from eyes almost feral -- was approaching them from the opposite direction. George swallowed as those eyes fixed on Loz, and then on her, piercing and so, so angry.

Then as soon as she'd appeared, the strange-beautiful woman turned away from them and was gone. George realized she had Loz's arm in a death-grip, and forced herself to let go.

"W-what the fuck was that all about?" she wondered out loud, her voice

"Trouble," Loz said absently. He watched Lee until she disappeared from sight. Staring after her for a moment, his arm went around George and he pulled her close, until he could feel her against him. "George, make me a promise, will you?"

George, her eyes wide and confused, nodded at him wordlessly. She was still too stunned by the strange scene she'd just witnessed to notice how closely Loz was holding her.

"Stay close to me, okay? Whatever happens." Finally able to look away from Lee's departure, he gave George a small frown. "Somthing's...not right with her and that isn't good."

It would have made a great pickup line to get under George's skirts if he would've been of that mind. Unfortunately, Lee's passing was just that portentous and Loz's mind hadn't gone down that road.

George bit her lip, even more bemused. "Uh, sure," she said at last. "So, you know that woman? Who is she?"

"She's complicated," Loz said cryptically. Looking around, his gaze alert to problems or issues that may still be present, his hand slid down her arm to hold at her arm again. "Let's get back inside."

George bit back a snarky reply; he was being purposely evasive, and she was beginning to seriously wonder why. He seemed dead serious about whatever was going on, so she decided to let it slide. "Fine," she said with a short nod. "I'm getting sort of hungry, now, anyway."
