school stuff

well, my goal for the summer is to memorize all the vocabulary words in my textbook that i'll be using for autumn. i currently have about 6 chapters left to do, and am learning around 80-150 words per day, and there's around 80 days of summer left so i can definitely do it.

now i'm at the point in japanese where i can actually read different genres of manga and understand, oh, let's say 70% without looking anything up. it's a huge jump compared to last year. i really have to focus on learning more kanji meanings, and that'll come effortlessly after my word replacement tool is finished...

and so now i'm daydreaming about living in japan every day again. i now know that japanese isn't an impossible language, despite what everyone told me all growing up. maybe there, i keep thinking that, oh, i'll get a job in japan and will be able to move out of this house... oh, i'll finish my degree and get some money somehow and start a manga translationc company and THEN move out of the house...

this summer, i want to try learning some indonesian, chinook jargon, cantonese and greenlandic too.... but i know i'm going to have my hands full with japanese for quite a while. after i finish learning all the vocab from the textbook I have now (Genki 2), i have to start learning all the vocab from the book for spring semester, which is Tobira. Tobira's entirely about reading practise, and it seems to have tons more words in it (so I'll have to learn another, what, 6.000 words??). Sigh!
