Anyone having any luck at all with getting charge backs on their credit cards or working with their bank at all on any of this? I've hit brick wall after brick wall.

On the bright side, I got an email from PayPal that said they were going to investigate my claim afterall, despite telling me there was nothing they could do.

I only sent in my dispute to the credit card company on Tuesday, so there hasn't been time for them to get back to me about it yet. *sigh* PayPal sent me an e-mail saying the following (mind you, this was only for ONE claim since I decided to go with just appealing to my credit card):

We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed ( ... )

The only way PayPal will refund money to your account is if you funded the account with a credit card. If you paid from existing funds in the account, I think you're out the money. PayPal refunds credit card payments because they know your credit card company will force the chargeback anyway, and they don't won't to get tossed out of the VISA family. PayPal has very percise and picky rules. I doubt that the organizers will ever put money in that account again, simply because they know that PayPal will seize it to pay off what they owe.

Interesting. This claim I filed with PayPal (and one other charge I didn't file) were paid by credit card through PayPal (but a different card than the one I filed a lengthy dispute with). I wonder if I should go ahead and try to get that other money. I'm so bad at actually following through with the paperwork, that I'm hesitant to even try.

It's all so ridiculous.

If you funded the transactions with a credit card, file through PayPal's resolution center. You'll need the transactions numbers, which you can get online from your PayPal account. They are counting on a lot of people not filing complaints because it is a hassle. Starting the dispute is easy. If PayPal hassles you, then call your credit card company. You have a very good chance at getting your funds back. I deal with PayPal all the time. I know their little loop holes.

Rinny, did you fund your PayPal account with a credit card? If you bought your tickets for Flan with those funds, do this ( ... )

Sadly, no. I funded PayPal through my debit bank account. My bank account I had to close when I moved to Seattle. I contacted them, and they wont do anything because it's more than 90 days.

I have 2 more transactions. One through the credit card company, and I'll try and contact them this week. And another that was direct from my NEW bank. I called them today and they wont do anything. They said I should take it to the vendor.

Obviously, I cannot.

*sigh*

The Ashland, OR Police department is investigating Booster for Fraud. I've already submitted my information to them, but fat lot of good that's going to do any of us in terms of a refund.

There are two more groups you can file a complaint with--the more of you on that complaint the better: The Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, and the State Attorney General's office, both in the state where the organizers do business. The AGs of state are generally very aggressive at going after and prosecuting fraud. The more people you can get to be a part of the complaint the better.

bigbadman and I were told by our cc company that they are tentatively crediting our visa account pending the final results of their investigation. Who knows when that will be?

So sorry you're having so little luck, sweetie.
