Riley and Sam are doing some team missions down in South America, they were just tipped off about a new nest that needed to be wiped out and the eggs taken back to The Iniative for testing. Riley and Sam were in the briefing room, but they couldn't keep their eyes off of each other. He was in love with her, and she was in love with him; it was a match that was made...in a "higher place." Neither of them believed in God, but they did believe that there was somewhere better than this God forsaken Earth. There had to be, or else they had nothing to look forward to. With all the bad that both of them had witnessed, it was no surprise that they came to the conclusion that there couldn't be a "surpreme being" who let all this evil go untouched and unscathed.
After the briefing they were dismissed, Riley opened the door and followed Sam out of the briefing room. "How about some shut-eye before the big mission?" Sam said, playfully hitting Riley. Riley laughed and remembered that they hadn't gotten much sleep, they had been pulling shifts for about a week straight, without much time to relax, well that and the fact that missions always turned both of them on, and their hormones managed to overcome them.
Riley had her the S.O.S distress call over his comm link, he tried to get through to Sam's unit, but all he got was static. He was driving the hummer towards the base, because he had been called in. He pulled up the GPS tracker in Sam's vest and then hauled ass to get to the location where Sam's tracker was.
It brought him to a deserted and run-down building in the middle of the woods. He grabbed his gun and vest as he put them on, as he ran towards the door. He couldn't get ahold of Sam or anyone else on their team, he hadn't even waited for back-up, he wanted to find out what the hell was going on.
"Sam!" He shouted as he kicked the door open, his gun trained as he scanned the room for hostile's, the room was empty. He ran through the building until he found a door that was closed...he pushed the door open and looked around the room. There was red liquid everywhere, it was still dripping from the walls...it took a moment before Riley could process it...it was blood . The blood was everywhere, there were no bare spaces on the wall.
Riley felt the urge to throw-up, but he had to know what had happened, he kept telling himself that it was demon blood and not human blood. But he looked around and saw pieces of skin and hair all over the room, he saw what looked like intestines and other body parts scattered across the room.
"SAM! Where the hell are you!" He shouted as he ran out of the room, he came across another room and opened the door. He saw her...laying there, blood had already pooled around her body. Riley dropped his gun and ran to her, sliding across the floor. She looked up at him, pale from the amount of blood that she had lost..."Ri-R-" She sputtered, coughing up blood as she tried to speak.
"Sam...don't try and talk...just don't leave me." He said, tears starting to well up in his eyes...he radiod back to base to tell them he needed a medic RIGHT NOW! He saw Sam beginning to slip..."Damn it Samantha...don't go. Fight it...please...for us baby. For us!" He shouted as he saw her chest stop moving.
Riley watched as his wife took her last breathe..."I love you Samant-" He began to say, as he felt something pull him by the shoulder hard. He was thrown against a wall, tossed like he was a rag doll. Riley's eyes had teared up and his vision was blurry. He saw a green looking figure with a skewer approach him...Riley jumped to his feet and pulled his pistol from the holster and fired off the entire round, the beast flinched and reeled backwards, Riley's gun clicked and he realized he was out of ammunition.
"Shit!" He cursed as he reached for another magazine, Riley saw the figure coming closer, he decided it was time for hand to hand...before he could throw a punch, he felt a burning sensation in his lower abdomen...he swung and then suddenly, felt pain in his abdomen, his hand instinctively went to where the searing pain was, he pulled it back and saw the blood. He fell to his knee's, he was ironically face to face with his now dead wife.
I woke up yelling her name, it was the same damn nightmare again, the one I've had ever since her death. I looked around to figure out where I was. I was home, in our bedroom. Ours, except it wasn't ours anymore...it was mine. Sam was gone...she was gone. I still couldn't believe what had actually happened...I couldn't believe that she was gone.
I got out of bed and started the hot water and shaved and began my normal routine...I remembered the rest of the month since her death. I woke up a week after she died; turns out that I had been in a coma for about a week, because of the severe blood loss.I looked in the mirror and looked at my slowly healing scar on my abdomen, from where I had been stabbed. Itouched it and winced in pain, it was still sore.
I finished my shower and got dressed and headed towards the base, I didn't need to come in, but I wasn't resting until the hostile that had taken away my wife was dead. And I was the one to kill it.
