Resources II: Dead Site Boogaloo
The old resources page is dead. Long live the resources page.
Here's the deal, I've been playing this game for a million years. The Laurinces live in the Veronaville from my initial install, like, 15 years ago? I have tons of old, old stuff. I have freebie stuff EA/Maxis posted on the exchange, pulled to put in a stuff pack to sell, and, like, you can't even buy the game itself new anymore. So many sites are dead and gone. So many creators lost and forgotten. I can point you to my defaults, give you a general idea of how I have my game setup, and beyond that...you guys are on your own. Even when the game was current, I couldn't remember where most of my furniture and clothing came from.
First things first, my current game setup is Uni/NL/Ofb/Pets/Seasons/FreeTime. Yes, I actually have official access to the Ultimate Collection on Origin. Will I actually install it? HAHAHA. I'm too lazy to add expansion packs. I still don't know why I installed Pets. This means that, in general, my hack/mod setup is probably useless information to anyone who's sane and just installed all the content made for the game.
- I use hacks from MATY, Simbology, Cyjon, and some various others from creators on Mod the Sims. I am probably not using a version that would be compatible with an all EPs installation of the game, but most of those places have versions that will work for that type of game.
- I have my own Genetics Tutorial which explains why the sims I have look the way they do.
Default Replacements
- Eyes: Kylie Eyes by Bruno, Gelydh's Bluechip for Aliens
- Skins: Aquilegia's Idolflex Skinblend (with my S1 of choice), Enayla's Pixie Galaxies for Aliens, navetsea's Vampire overlay, Enayla's Pixie Grave for Zombies, Almighty Hat's plantsim default
- Hair: For the meshes I have not completely hidden, I have used Aquilegia's default texture replacements, modified in a few ways for my personal use. The reds were changed to Molotov, and some of the blacks were changed to Flash Powder, IIRC.
Where did you get X?
- Bunk Beds: Grand Trianon Collection on MTS. This worked for me in base game. They are, and will always be, the best bunk beds.
- Hair: I probably retextured it. Pooklet's V1 textures, natural color ways were a godsend for my sense of consistency, and I'm still using their resources to this day. Anything else is getting impossible to track down, but some of the streaked ones that pop up here or there are from Garden of Shadows.
- Lots: I built them. If you check the old Manhattenton tag, most of those are unshareable because they're not on flat lots. The major legacy lot builds and several of my community lots are available for your perusal. I also used to do a bit of builds for fun and post them on MTS. (Until a starter lot of mine got rejected for not having enough landscaping, but that was a long, long time and a different upload rating ago.)
- Anything else...¯\(º_o)/¯, but I made a little bit of it. At some point, I plan to make sure all the stuff I made for Secret Santas/gift exchanges gets its own upload post here, and I'm going to try and tag the hairs and stuff with the mesh maker.
A Couple Basic Utilities
- Hook's Randomizer, because I'm too lazy to roll actual dice.
- ...I totally had at least one more thing to put here, but I already forgot what I wanted it to be. Oh well, TBD?
