Please teach me the truth
I have said it before and I will doubtlessly say it again. This song is one of the most sensual things I've ever heard. (And it has startlingly little to do with how he practically molests the microphone stand while singing it, but I digress.)
It's enthralling - he sings of such a deep loss, of awareness, of consciousness, of self, and he's pleading to be told the meaning, his crimes, the truth, the dreams... The entire feel of this song is dark, it's a long, dark night, the air is thick with smoke, and the musical arrangement is a masterpiece that just elevates everything to a higher level. He really gets to show off his deep register in this one and it's so stunning. (The only better example I can think of is Wasurenaikara, holy shit. That voice.)
(And it should be mentioned, that in the Kagen no Tsuki concerts he sang Rain right after this, with a stunning display of rainfall driving the feel of Fragrance away. It blows my mind most of the time just how much he embodied the full experience during those years.)
