What are you listening to?
Right now? I'm listening to a band from the 21st century-- The Dave Matthews Band. They were apparently very popular at the time with tens of millions of fans all over Earth. They were to jazz/jam music as what Beethoven was to classical. Their sound is an inspiring mix of that big band sound from Earth's early 20h century and more traditional jazz riffs, but they also fuse bluegrass violins and fiddles with wailing saxophones. I don't think I've heard anything quite like it, or at least nothin that comes close. But even though Dave Matthews has been dead for 300 years--and this is true with a lot of Terran musicians--the lyrics still have meaning even now. One song in particular makes me think of summer days on Betazed with Deanna. The best kind of music is the kind that connects with you on a personal level. You have to feel it in your soul, otherwise, it's just noise.
