i went on another date with shaun. spoon, ari and i all drove out to palm springs to meet at an arcade/miniature golf course out there called Boomers! i think our first mistake was allowing me to be navigator. what was expected to be an hour and a half drive ended up taking us three hours when mapquest decided to send us down a freeway that took us miles past our end point. by the time we figured out we were going the wrong way, we were well out of our way. it took us nearly half an hour to get back on track and the whole time spoon was blaming shaun, which made me upset, and ari was hiding in the back pretending she didn't exist. finally we made it to Boomers! and everyone happily jumped out of the car to find that when it's 115 degrees outside the air sort of sticks to you. i really didn't mind. i'd been in that kind of weather before when we were staying out in nevada and i really liked it, but i think spoon and ari were going to shrivel up and die. and i was the one in long sleeves and pants, but i'm just crazy like that. when we got there shaun came out to meet us. his hair was sort of blond now since the redness had probably washed out from ax. we got our wrist bands that allowed us to play all the games we wanted and went inside.

i was happy to find that the ddr machine was graciously populated with lots of skinny white boys that knew how to play very well. there was about half a dozen guys there that just took turns doing heavy mode. one of the guys was even doing tricks. needless to say, i was very impressed. i was even happier to find that they were patient and very tolerant of me, ari, and spoon and our suckiness. shaun proved that he could do just as well on heavy as well, but for some reason i just found it amusing to watch him bounce around. he really looked like a little kid, especially because of the huge clothes he was wearing.

not long after we got there we all decided we were hungry, so we walked across the street to mc donalds, proving that billboards do work because the whole way out to palm springs i kept seeing these signs that said "new snickers mc flurry!" so i really wanted one. i got my snickers mc flurry and shaun bought for me and spoon since spoon ended up buying the Boomers! ticket that shaun had promised he'd buy me. spoon and i had to wait forever for our food because they aparently had to catch, kill, and pluck the chicken for spoon's salad. then they forgot her fries anyways and they didn't give her a fork. once we ate we headed back to Boomers! and played ddr for a bit more before deciding to go see a movie.

choosing a movie turned out to be a difficult task since spoon and ari had plans to see all these movies with their family members, and it's really hard to find one movie that four people haven't seen, especially when shaun is downloading them all off the internet. we finally decided on the manchurian canidate, since it was getting rave reviews and, surprisingly enough, no one had seen it. once we got to the movie theater we had to wait forever for the movie to end, and ari found out how it ended when she peaked in to see if anyone was in the theater. once inside we settled and watched the movie, which turned out to be painfully slow and incredibly predictable. i yawned so many times i was worried i'd actually fall asleep during the movie.

afterwards we decided to head home since it was 11, so we'd probably make it home by 1. shaun kissed my cheek before we left him at the front of the movie theater to wait for his mom to pick him up. i tried desperately not to fall asleep on the ride home, but i found myself drifting off every so often. i get really paranoid driving home late because i think i'm tired, so the driver is probably tired too and i want to make sure they don't fall asleep. spoon got us home safe, and i went to bed and passed out.

however, i've decided that i don't like driving with spoon. i for one hate driving with the windows down, which spoon tends to do a lot. she doesn't use her ac and she doesn't take directions well. she'll pass the place where she needs to turn while asking you for the third time if that's really where she needs to turn. i don't know. i'm just such a horrible passenger i should just look into walking everywhere. i need to move someplace in the middle of a big city so i never have to drive.

shaun and i are now officially together. we're planning on going out again on the 28th so he can meet my parents at my mom's company picnic at knott's berry farm. i'm pretty happy with how everything has turned out. hopefully i can prove to my parents this semester that i can have a boyfriend and still do good in school too. XD

this picture is from the orange county fair. i finally scanned it.
