Some stuff about writing.

From luckychan, but I can't answer it properly =/

How about a brief introduction for yourself?

For fear of being stalked (it's happened to my brother), I'll say that I go by Riisha. Everywhere. So except for some places, if you see that name, it's probably me :D Intro? I mostly write original (or semi-original, in the case of the Gaius stories), but I delve into fanfiction sometimes.

Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?

I... Don't know. I think I just thought it would be fun. It actually started with self-insertions/meeting the characters, but then moved on to writing pairings/romances (mostly slash/yaoi pairings, because.. those didn't exist in the show/manga itself). Then... I eventually realized I liked playing with characters. Developing them more, writing interactions, etc etc, more on this in the next question.

I see, so what kind of fanfiction do you like to write?

Nowadays... I... explore characters. Character relationships. Character interactions. Character development. So lately, when I write fanfics, I usually write drabbles. Even completely senseless drabbles, where I get to play with the characters for a while.

Either that or I write... Ironies :D I like to write fics where if you read it without knowing the story, you could still enjoy it, but if you did know the story, you'd laugh at the little bit that I put in. I did a couple for FFVII, and I also recently made one for a recent obsession.

I also write humor. :P Period. No explanations necessary.

Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?

I have a really hard time starting something. It takes quite a bit to inspire me. But the thing is, once I have something to work with, it just... flows. So in that way, I actually find it easy. Sometimes, I even have a hard time getting the characters to shut up. But then I get stuck. It's a sin of mine to start something and not finish it. Because I am too character-driven that I write without thinking out the plot first.

Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.

To be added in when I think of who to write about @_@ especially since originals don't count.

Are there any fanfiction clichés or trends you're sick of or just can't stand?

Pairings of any kind which are poorly based (Het, slash or femslash)... and poorly WRITTEN. On the OTHER hand, I take this back for special stories which make it work. Because I have found stories of pairings I would never support, yet they can make it into my favorites lists, because they were that well-written.

I also hate how a character's personality gets utterly WARPED just because they are hated for any reason, especially stupid ones (like 'this person is ruining my favorite pairing!').

Are you guilty of any fanfiction clichés you hate? Or any other ones?

Yes. Actually I sort of am. I have written stories myself of poorly based pairings. And actually, I think I still will eventually find these poorly based pairings because sometimes you just can't help it, and run into something that smacks you in the face, even if you see there's nothing to support it. But like I said... it's how you deal with the pairing :P

What was the first fandom you wrote for, and do you still like/participate in it?

The first real fanfic I wrote... I think was actually for Weiss Kreuz o_o I still love the series to bits, but I'm sad to admit that I haven't been writing in it for a while. Which sucks because I had an epic fic that everyone loved that suddenly got cut four chapters before it ended. x_x hay.

Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.

Huh. I'll not mention the slash ones that I used to write :P Um... I actually don't know. It's only recently that I started back into fanfiction, really. There's my FFVII OTP that everyone knows about, and what I love about them is... I guess considering what it must have been like, since before a certain installment coming out, there was very little clue to what they were like. It actually makes me a little sad to think that perhaps this new installment will muck up what I've written so far.

As for characters, it's anyone I love dearly. Lately, that's been the Phoenix Wright cast, because they're all just wacky and fun to play with.

What would you call your writing “style”?

Character-driven. Utterly character-driven. Sometimes there is no plot, but you end up just running up and down with the characters that you might not care if I did it right. I've also been called a roller-coaster writer, making you laugh at one point and crying your eyes out the next.

Do you read other people’s fanfic? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?

Pairings I like. Character exploration, the same way I do. Or better than I do would be great.

Name one thing you’d LOVE to write, but have been too afraid or shy to do.

Um. My most recent OTP, the one from Phoenix Wright? One that isn't a past fic. Actually even those past fics, I've been scared of writing them. It's actually mostly because I'm afraid to submit them to the rest of the fanclub... ^_^;; I'm also afraid for the non-past fic because I don't know how to make it work, considering their situation, as well as the existence of Apollo Justice ^_^;;;

Another thing I'd love to write is... uh... the one-sided I/K angst that I've been in love with for reasons I don't understand myself. Why haven't I attempted it? I'm scared of the reception... from my friends =)) ... And also because I'm actually scared to write the kind of fic that's in my head... It's kinda emotional, and... err... I'll stop talking about it XD

[EDIT] Other than that, I would love to write anything for Suzumiya Haruhi. I want to write something HaruKyon, actually, but I can't bring myself to do it. I also want to make an introspective piece on Koizumi (based on the novels) but... I haven't been able to do that either T_T I also have wanted to write for Ouran, but... I just can't for that either T_T

Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?

There was a time I really freaked when someone criticized me. I think it depends on what's being said.

When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?

Nothing really.

What inspires you?

Sometimes, it's something else I watched. Or something else I read. Sometimes it's a completely random thought. One time, it was a picture, even... Fanart or original art. Sometimes it's even a canon situation, or even a theory. Generally, I just get ideas from anywhere.

Tag some friends because they'll hate you for it.

Noone to tag. Answer if you want to.

And I decided I wanna do what she did :P

2. Comment with any of my fics/drabbles, and I will write you a minimum of 100 words of what happens in that same universe, in the time frame you specify. You can ask for ten years before, five minutes after the last line, three months before the first scene, whatever you like: I will write about it.

This also applies to originals ^_^ Like you can request ... say... a certain smart 19-year old long-haired brunette in a certain situation of your choice. But I can't guarantee that I can write it. ^^ As for fanfics... Meh. x_x I don't think I have enough really, but... well, I'll see.

I won't put in number 3 for fear of what might come up XD I might not be able to handle it.

I don't even know if anyone would even request anyway :P

meme, writing
