So, I've got this annoying NCIS-related plot bunny I'm thinking about writing just to get it out of my head ... and it's unfortunately not a happy story. Instead, it pretty much encapsulates my thoughts on the Tony/Ziva "relationship" from the midway point of season 6 on, only it's done from the POV of a character I pretty much loath: Damon Werth.

Seriously, my idea revolves around the notion of him swinging back to DC for a job opportunity and getting caught up in the inane BS that is modern NCIS Tony/Ziva wherein neither one really seems to want the other one, but neither do they want anyone else to have them. If you read my AU season 8 idea I posted here a while back, the Tony and Damon misadventure is pretty much the basis for this story, although if I do get around to writing it, I expect it won't be well received by Tiva fans because I see those two as toxic to one another. Hell, I'm not even sure if I believe that Ziva was in love with Tony in season 4 anymore. If this Miami thing turns out to be (another) love interest, it sure seems like her s4 & beyond fixation on Tony is based entirely on proximity.

And how sad is it that I, who was once such a mondo NCIS fan and ardent Tiva supporter, honestly see them as toxic to each other anymore? As much as I find the whole McGiva thing disgusting, frankly it seems more likely than any Tony/Ziva hook-up simply because Tim and Ziva? They actually seem to be friends. Tony and Ziva? Not so much.

Equally sad is the fact that I haven't bothered to watch any of season 8 in its entirety. I tuned in a little bit with the Tony's dad episode - did not like it - and saw a little of the even worse Eli David eps - seriously? She forgives her dad that easily? After the shit he put her through? And here I thought Tony was the one who was emotionally crippled. - before glumly acknowledging that my love affair with NCIS is well and truly deceased. I truly do not understand why so many people are tuning in and apparently liking what has happened to the characters. They've all become horrific caricatures of themselves ... which just saddens me terribly.

But Transitional States? I suspect it's deader than a doornail. It's really hard to work up enthusiasm about characters who you honestly don't like anymore. Don't get me wrong: I still respect the actors, I just loath what their characters have devolved into. It's just so damned sad ...

So yeah, I'm kind of bummed out at the moment.
