Christmas Update
This Christmas was great this year. A brief run down.
Monday - We drove out to my parent’s place, unpacked the car and went to bed.
Tuesday - Spent the morning mostly hanging out with family, Kevin went to work, I went with my parents to pick up my brother and sister in law. Talked with my parents along the way about plans for my sis-in-law’s mini baby shower we were planning to hold
Wednesday - Talked about going swimming most of the morning, ended up going bowling instead, Kevin went to work instead of coming with. Went back to parents house and watched movies, played Wii, and painted ornaments.
Thursday - (Christmas Eve) My dad went out early in the morning and came home with a cotton candy machine, made cotton candy most of the morning, filling up the kitchen and dining room with flying strands of sugar. Ate lots of cotton candy. Hung out with family, played wii, watched movies, finally around the end of the day we opened our white elephant gifts, Mom got my gift which was something she had pushed on me a few months ago. Great fun all around.
Friday - (Christmas) Woke up to a present outside our door, turned out it was pajama pants for everyone. Everyone came down wearing their pajama pants. Opened stockings first because the dogs were getting pushy about theirs and were beginning to try to get into their stockings, Fae and Ronan ended up sticking their heads inside their stockings and happily munched up most or all of the chewies inside the stockings before they removed their heads. We then went and took turns opening our presents, I think everyone was pretty happy with the gifts they got, Sydney got the most presents, but didn’t want to open any of them, she was slightly fussy during most of it. Hung out most of the day, Kevin and Dad went and made more cotton candy, filled three garbage bags full of it. We all went out in bad weather to watch movies at the theatre, Mom, my sis and my Dad all watched New Moon. Kevin, my brother and sis in law and my brother in law (sister’s husband), and myself watched Avatar in 3D. Avatar rocked!
Saturday - Went shopping for after Christmas deals. Did not really find any, parents returned the cotton candy machine. Played Balderdash with family, that was lots of fun. We also did the baby shower, we only had one game, but it was great. I took different chocolate bars and microwaved them and then smeared the melted chocolate on diapers. For the game my dad grabbed the diapers which were in a garbage bag and took them out one by one. He called the game, “What did Sydney eat?” With the first diaper he took it out and took a whiff, made a face and said “Wooo!” he then took a little piece of chocolate from the diaper and tasted it. My pregnant sis-in-law was freaking out because she thought it was an actual dirty diaper. The chocolate actually looked like poop, it was great. That evening we did the jewelry craft that I had brought with me. I had put together pearl and crystal bracelet kits and each woman (my mom, my sis, my sis-in-law and myself) made a bracelet for themselves. Great fun!
Sunday - I gave my Weight Watcher’s presentation before church. We then went to church and then came home and basically hung out for the rest of the day. Kevin and I took a nap and when we woke up we started to pack to go home. We ended up getting out the door around 8:15 pm.
Overall it was a great Christmas week with my family. I am looking forward to doing it again next year.
