[It's been about a day since Ororo made it to Cherrygrove. She, like everyone else, received one of those mysterious eggs yesterday morning. She's listened to the 'Gear enough to figure that it would eventually hatch into yet another one of the Pokémon, so she's kept it near her at all times.]
[Currently, she's sitting by a tree on the outskirts of the city, preferring to keep away from the crowds.
Her egg is in a nest of blankets not a foot away from her, enjoying some sun because it seems to glow in good weather. Raindrop the Dratini is curled next to it and attempting to share bodyheat. It's not really working, as scales aren't the warmest of body coverings, but Ororo doesn't have the heart to tell the tiny dragon off, so.]
[She's also examining one of the shiny new Pokéballs she's bought for herself from the Mart.]
What do you think, my little Raindrop? Shall I catch a little friend for you, while we wait for this one to hatch? You would benefit from the company, I'm sure. Perhaps it would help you out of your shell, so to speak... [To herself, amused:] Perhaps I should have named you Cyclops. Scott was a lot like you when he first came to the Institute. [...never mind that her Dratini is a girl.]
[Pause.]
Even still, I can hardly bear to think of even attempting to catch one, let alone force it into such a tiny container! Do you not get claustrophobic in them? [She knows she totally would. Seriously, those balls are the tiniest things. How do they even fit in them...]
[Eventually, she'll actually address the 'Gear.]
These Pokémon have the strangest natures, and are quite different from the animals that I am used to back on Earth.
... Still, I cannot say that the idea of pitting one against another in a fight sits well with me, even for a game. In self-defense from the Pokémon in the wild, certainly, but why would anyone make sport of it?
[All said in a relatively level tone. She's not particularly mad -- well, okay, maybe only slightly mad on the inside because Goddess above, animals should have certain rights too (though she's learned by now that very little actually makes sense in Johto) -- but Ororo gives no outward sign of it. If anything, she sounds curious.]
