WHAT IS MK-ULTRA
- An American CIA project that used American and Canadian citizens as its test subjects.
- It ran from the early '50's to the late '60s
- The published evidence indicates the use of unusual methodologies:
- administration of drugs without the test subject's knowledge
- sensory deprivation
- isolation
- verbal and physical abuse
- violent electric shocks
WHAT'S THE POINT?
- to force test subjects to dissociate from reality
- this is a natural response when a person is faced with unbearable pain, similar to going into "shock"
- Mental dissociation allows the scientist (or controller) to create walled-off personalities in the subject’s mind
- These personalities are all separate, and don't know about each other. They're like different people inside the test subject's mind
- you can tell one personality a secret and none of the other personalities will know the secret. One personality can learn a skill that none of the other personalities can do, etc
- with proper conditions, you can create a "trigger" that causes one personality to come out. Each personality has a different trigger
- in theory, you could use this to create assassins that have no idea that they are assassins. With the right trigger, they assassin personality comes out and might, for example, go on a shooting spree at a high school
