On this most beautiful morning I sat with a cup of coffee and watched the little birds outside our living room window. They were scattered about the gardens picking up small debris and possibly insects I would imagine, maybe we'll have to invest in a small bird feeder for the tree? It was peaceful with the sun slowly spreading across the floor; decided to take the dog for a longer walk around the playing fields for a change of pace.
The trees are just peaking out with green (well, they are always green but that's just all the moss) and the japanese cherries out the front of the building are just about to burst out in bloom, it is going to be a gorgeous display again this year. It was still slightly chill in the air but the sun bit through it and made for a lovely walk. We ran into two, TWO, other dalmatians which is rare to even see one, a sleeping raccoon that was not so happy to have Zion poking around it, a sunbathing snake, and a flopping fish that scared Zion (it was humorous to say the least).
The day also brought out the police. A couple of them were approaching the homeless camps, one by one, with what can only be my guess as to make them vacate the area. It is disconcerting that this area has such a high amount of homeless; living is expensive the closer you get to the city and for the most part the weather here stays above freezing, so it is a decent location for the homeless to squat. My problem is that I work hard for my money and pay a good chunk in taxes that go towards these parks they sleep in and mess up, to public housing projects, health services, and various other programs that are meant to aid these people. For the most part I'm ok; some of them have mental/physical issues and the such but, I also know there are a lot who are just lazy, don't care, leech, steal, choose to be the way they are, and even some who panhandle but live well (do it in disguise for lack of better words). Am I bad for cheering on the police in making them move? I care but I also get upset with it as well... it is one of those issues that will never get solved but causes a lot of grief on all ends.
