QE2 Arrives at Sydney!

For me, today is a great day. It's a day I look forward to every year. The Cunard Liner RMS QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 has arrived in Sydney, Australia. Only being on board could be better. QE2 is docked at Circular, Quay in Sydney and there is a marvelous web camera that allows the viewer to control it and zoom in on the ship. The resolution is so ( Read more... )

When we're old,let's live on a ship, like that widow from Jersey! I reckon we will have to settle for the Queen Mary 2 rather than the QE2 unless we don't feel like moving too much!

Thanks for sharing your webcam experience with me... my co-worker watched her for a bit, too, in a weary city halfway across the world that awaits her return, as inevitable as the coming spring.

I like the way you think, Chris. I'm just sorry that we must wait until we're old. I'd like to live on the ship NOW!

The widow from Jersey was at my table (or perhaps I should say I was at her's) on my last QE2 adventure. Her name is Bea and she has all the "dirt" on what's going on behind the scenes.

Well, there is the small matter of employment. I don't want to work on a ship badly enough to wait tables for 18 hours a day. There is always Freedom assuming it is ever built. However, I think that having to take a bus to actually see the ocean would somewhat diminish the shipboard experience!

Who said anything about work? I said LIVE!!! Ah, that would be the life. Get up, breakfast at 9 o'clock, coffee and snacks at 11(sies), lunch at 1 o'clock, tea in the Queen's Room at 4, cocktails in the Crystal Bar at 7, dinner at 8:30 and buffet at 11. Of course, there's have to be a few strolls around the Boat Deck in the afternoon (five times = one mile!).

Ditto on the FREEDOM comments. That thing's not a ship. It's a barge with condos on it.

A few strolls 'round Boat Deck? I'd have to run laps just to be able to fit through the doors!

You never answered me, did I send you the aft portion of Promenade Deck or just the midship?
