I saw this posting in my office, and wanted to pass it along, as there are often groups for female survivors, but seem to rarely be any for males. (Other genders are rare too).

Victims of Violence Program
Beginning in May, 2009, a twelve-week psychoeducational group will be offered at the Central Street Health Center (26 Central Street, Somerville) for men recovering from childhood sexual and/or physical abuse. The group will meet on Mondays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. It is organized around the following topics:
• Common Reactions to Trauma and PTSD
• Coping and Symptoms
• Trust
• Anger
• Shame and Self-Esteem
• Masculinity and Identity
• Relationships and Intimacy
• Sex and Sexuality
• Self-Care

The group will focus on providing survivors with information about trauma and recovery, as well as offering an opportunity to connect with other men who have had similar experiences. The impact of past traumatic events on current functioning will be emphasized. The group is appropriate for a broad range of male survivors of childhood abuse. It is designed for men who are currently in a stable living situation and who are not offending or abusing substances.
