But for all the wrong reasons. It's not about the fact that Komen is lead by right wing culture warriors. The real problem is that all these pink ribbon charities are fronts for the very corporate and industrial interests that cause cancer in the first place and then profit from it.
Their mission is not to find a cure for cancer. Their mission is to distract and confuse the public, to make people think of cancer as purely a problem of personal responsibility (being "responsible" and constantly getting screened so you can get "life-saving early treatment") where in fact the problem is largely due to ubiquitous carcinogens in our food and our environment.
As far as the leaders of the pinkwashing industry are concerned, there is no problem. They're making high six figure salaries paid for by suckers who donate, buy, run, race and bake For The CureTM. Their industrial owners make trillions from causing cancer and then treating it. What's the problem? What economic incentive would there be to upset this profitable system by finding a cure? The system works perfectly for them as it is.
