Also, I cannot wait to go home to the land of vegetables. While Americans are certainly guilty of adding sugar to all sorts of things that don't need it, I don't think we actually have the worst cultural food habits. The Czechs apparently don't eat anything but varying forms of meat, potatoes, and gravy. Now, I like meat, potatoes, and gravy (within reason) but I am starting to understand why younger Czechs are all tall and skinny and the older ones are rotund and bent. 40 years of chainsmoking and avoiding vegetables takes its toll, even on those blessed by genetics.

I would kill for a salad.
