Ok, I haven't posted real content in a while, so here is what I have been up to.

Last weekend we went to the Zoo, which was actually pretty cool - the Prague Zoo ranks with the London Zoo and the San Diego Zoo as one of the world's top zoos. It rained off and on all day, which, while sort of a nuisance, meant that we only had to share the park with hundreds of other people, rather than thousands. Pictures forthcoming when I figure out what we did with the connecting cable for the camera.

This weekend we took the train to Vienna, which would have been slightly more fun if I hadn't been low-level sick the whole time. Still, it is one of the places I have always wanted to go (my SCA persona is Viennese). The first day we basically just did the Kunsthistorisches Museum, had dinner, and went to bed. The second day we went to the Museum of Applied Arts. This was cooler than I expected it to be, with an extensive collection of historic textiles, glass, pottery, and china. From there we went to St. Stephen's Cathedral, but even though it was the middle of the afternoon, they were still having Masses, so we didn't stay. One of the Tutankhamun exhibits was in Vienna, so we saw that instead.

The last stop in our afternoon was the Natural History Museum. In keeping with it's origins as a collection of scientific Victoriana, the second floor of the museum is mostly wooden cabinets full of preserved things in jars and taxidermy. Creepy, really. The first floor is all dinosaurs and Bronze age/Stone age artifacts. The gem of the collection is the Venus of Willendorf, which is enjoying it's centennial since discovery this year.

We don't have a lot of photos from Vienna, as most of the museums discouraged photography, but I will post those too, when I find the darn cord.
