Me: So basically I decided that if people continue to leave dishes out when the dishwasher is empty I'm just going crush or break the dishes in question.
Brian: Yeah, I'm not OK with that.
Me: Well who's been leaving the dishes out then?
Brian: I don't know!!
Me: And neither do I! So I'm going to keep breaking dishes until we have ONE DISH PER PERSON or you make it your business to find out who is being a jerk and get them to stop.

I love that a situation can leave me so exasperated with people being jerks that the only reasonable solution I can come up with is to be an even bigger jerk back. I'm sorry, but I gave up on reasonable solutions some time over the past 3 years. I tried just plain cleaning up after everyone and the stress caused what have to charitably be called a 'breakdown'. I tried asking for help, rearranging the chores. I nagged and nagged. I even tried threatening people. I got them good and scared of me in the process but unfortunately they just.wouldn't.put.the.dishes...away.

And every single thing I tried to relieve the stress of the situation (and place it on them) just made it worse for me and eventually I cracked instead. Without fail. I let the kitchen go to shit. Things were rusting in our sink for christ's sake I just stood back and said "No, fuck this" and ate using no dishes for 3 weeks. And yet in the end I still caved and fought and scrubbed us back to civilization. Bah.

On the plus side, Mike is back and Daniel is gone. Mr. Daniel had decided that he would stick around until the 20th despite our protests. On the 18th he got booted to the couch. On the 20th his parents came and went carrying a SUV full of his shit. but he would....not.....leave. I understand things were beyond his control...kindof. Mostly that the car he needed to drive home in needed to be, i don't know, BUILT; by him. So getting this started at any point in the past month, was that a priority? Nah. He did throw a real dump of a party on the 17th. He didn't tell us so neither pat, mike or I invited anyone. So about 10 people showed up. Not bad, I'm not 100% sure I could get 10 people to come to my house on short notice. But then Daniel falls asleep on the couch. So Mike, Pat and myself said fuck this and went to a bar. We returned home to find that Daniel had mistaken the STOVE for the sink and vomited on it. Then passed out.

So Mike and I decided 1 good turn deserves another and started packing his room FOR him. Packing goes fast if you're drunk and don't care what goes where and whether or not it breaks. But then Daniel started living on the couch and driving to Carnation every day to work in some dude's garage to fix his car. He didn't leave until THIS MONDAY MORNING. yeah. Also, his car broke down north of the Washington border so he had to rent a U-haul and call his dad up from Frisco to get him and the busted car. Which could have been done at the beginning of this whole endeavor, weeks ago.

At least he had the good sense not to try to come back or call one of us. Class had already started of course and we're already planning our "Daniel is Gone" party (seriously).
