Rain (too much)

Jun 26, 2007 16:08

I'm sure everyone's aware of the current flooding in Yorkshire, so I won't bother mentioning it (other than to say the my friend who lives near Rotherham has managed to recover his stranded car, but has been unable to leave his town today, due to all the roads being flooded)

To say that it rained a bit yesterday is nicely put into perspective on the BBC News site. For the 25th June, London received 4mm of rain. Hull and Fylingdales both received over 100mm. The average for the whole month is usually 72mm. In broad terms, the rain the should have fallen in the whole of June and July fell in just 12 hours.

No wonder all the rivers and streams have burst their banks, and the dams are creaking...
