NYC round 3: Atlas café, 'snice, Dosa man, coffee, bagels and Lula's Sweet Apothecary.

Nov 13, 2009 06:44

I'm back home in the UK now. Although in fact, I keep referring to Braddock as "home" too, so that's kind of confusing. Either way, I had a mini break in NYC from Monday until my flight from JFK on Wednesday, which began with a sleepless night spent on a Chinatown bus from Pittsburgh. It was totally worth it, though, because I managed to cram in ( Read more... )

6LBS IS NOTHING. When I first started uni I put on a stone at least. It was disgusting. I still haven't shaken it off & I'm having such trouble losing weight. I definitely need to exercise more but everything hurts & I have no idea what to do to keep fit but not be in pain! I have no willpower with food, either. I keep eating shite. :(

Chris is a lucky man. :D

Haha, welllll it's not "nothing", but luckily I don't think it's that noticeable other than a little extra around my tummy. I mean, it just told me what I already knew - I've been eating too many tasty sugary, fatty foods and should reign it in a bit lot.

Why does everything hurt when you exercise? Is that from being unfit or something medical? Sorry if that's prying, but it'd help with suggestions. I don't enjoy exercising, which sucks, but luckily I do love riding my bike. It only took me 21 years to figure out a way I could exercise and be happy :P

Also, you can still enjoy shite if you tweak it a bit... E.g.: I just had a fry up, but made it more acceptable by erm, not frying anything. Wholemeal toast, baked beans (protein!), then in the oven I baked 2 large mushrooms (B vitamins), veggie sausages (protein, lower fat, no cholesterol, easier to digest than animal protein) and some tomatoes (vitamins!) - voila!

I'll tell Chris you said that, too! :D

Okay, no, it's not nothing but it's less noticeable than, say, the 2stone I've put on in 3 years. I put it only slowly, but it means I'm finding it dreadfully hard to lose too. It doesn't matter what I eat, or don't eat, or how much I exercise, or don't, nothing seems to work very well. I'd like to be under 10st by Xmas but I have my doubts.

It's a medical thing. I'm not actually that unfit - I always surprise myself when I start exercising again, although if I gave up smoking again I'd be a thousand times better, but anyway - it's because I may or may not have lupus &/or fibromyalgia (or at least SOMEthing like that) which means that almost every part of my body hurts nigh-on constantly & stressing it in any way makes it worse. Plus, it's raining & cold & that doesn't help either. Nothing has been diagnosed by the doctor's, mostly because they never listen to me & I'm too scared to go, but I know something is wrong with my body & I don't need a doctor to tell me that. I need to do low impact things but I can't really swim because my ( ... )

Oh god, I didn't realise it might be something like that (I have to admit I only know what Lupus is because of House MD)! That doesn't sound like any fun at all :( Perhaps if you did go to the doctors they could properly diagnose it and try to make it better for you? And with the swimming thing, you could get yourself a glamorous swimming cap? :P Sorry, poor joke... Ahem!

Ha, well, I get a bit edgy everytime I see icons or T-shirts related to House that say "It's not lupus!" because you know, maybe it isn't, but there's something wrong at least. I have been to the doctor, they did blood tests when my hands stopped working back in May (never knew the results) & I went to a neurologist at Charing Cross hospital in July & was told I'd need more tests because it's complicated but I've heard nothing. At all. When I was referred to a neurologist at West Middlesex she asked me about my medical history & whether there were any other problems I was worried about & I told her a few things but she just fobbed them off, she wasn't listening to me. Looking back on it I was describing my fibromyalgia &/or Lupus symptoms & I'm going to be so pissed off if it turns out to be one of those & could have been diagnosed months ago but because the doctors wouldn't listen to me it took much longer than it had to ( ... )
