Saturday Morning Cartoons

Aug 28, 2010 09:55

Saturday morning cartoons just ain't what they used to be. What happened to Looney Tunes? Even Boomerang doesn't play it. I wonder if I can find DVDs of Looney Tunes. I miss it. My child will grow up and she has no idea about Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Marvin the Martian, The Tazmanian Devil, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner. How sad. Anyone with a tip on Looney Tune viewing is more than welcome to report.

The weather this week has been beautiful. It's one of those Saturday mornings that is sunny and cool and breezy. Fall is coming. I am excited. This has been the most grueling, miserable summer ever. Probably ruined summer for me for life. I am truly excited about sweaters and scarves and cold weather and gingerbread lattes and THE HOLIDAYS. I can smell fall in the air. Very excited.

I need some baking supplies. Ever since we moved here, I have been desperate to do some baking, but all I have are two cake pans and some cheap cookie sheets. I need some cooling racks, muffin tins, loaf pans, and some casserole dishes. Pyrex style. I made some zucchini bread which was very nice.... When I was a little girl I used to visit my great aunt in her humongous house and we made this bread with bananas, chocolate chips and nuts. I would like to find a recipe for that again. Lately I have this addiction to sauteed bananas. They are so good.

I want to go present shopping for Lily's birthday. I think we are going to get her one of those tall dollhouses. I wanted to get her one last year for Christmas but her dad said she wasn't "old enough". How are you not old enough to play with a dollhouse as tall as you are? This year it's going down. Also trying to decide what to serve. Sliders is pretty much a guarantee and probably mini cheese pizzas for kids since Lily and others do not eat hamburgers or hot dogs. What's wrong with kids these days?

Also, something that's bothering me.... My child's name is spelled with one "L". Not two. For some reason, I find it so rude when people talk about Lily on, like, facebook or something or e-mail or text me and they spell her name Lilly. That's not my child. I do not know a "Lilly". Just a "Lily". I've decided I'm not supposed to say anything, but they are going to be sorely disappointed if they start monogramming that name on things.

I actually feel guilty for spending this day so far in our pajamas. Nice weather makes me feel guilty for staying inside. Hell, we are in the middle of Carytown. Must find something to do, today. That involves not spending too much money. Cartwheels and Coffee.... or Bev's.... World of Mirth is out thanks to the induction of the "I want" phase.

Off to tear my child away from Noggin and get some fresh air.
