Not exactly a tough call: Obama, Clinton, Edwards, Richardson, in that order. If Richardson gets less than 5%, I expect him to drop out, and at some point endorse Obama, as will Dodd and Biden. Both Clinton and Edwards will stay in, at least until South Carolina for Edwards, and Feb. 5 for Clinton ( Read more... )

Who is close enough to Huckabee on the Republican side to pick him up as VP? I seriously doubt that one. The other two sound good, though.

Nobody is very close to Huckabee, but none of the major Republicans are southern Christian evangelicals, and so to appeal to that constituency, Romney, McCain, or Giuliani will want Huckabee or somebody like him to balance out their ticket. Huckabee now has national name-recognition, and is congenial and even appeals to people like me.

Fair enough, but you don't think that he will be too excited by his win to accept that? Also, I bet there are other republicans with less personality they could pick up. They wouldn't want to be outshone by their VP.

Interesting predictions...I hope you are right about Obama, the thought of the same two families dominating the White House for two decades really creeps me out...
