99 weeks without posting

At least that's what LJ says. It's been more like 48 or so.

I spend enough time at the computer that I'm going to TRY to start posting again.

School starts Tuesday. I had intended to work this summer, but the two surgeries I had earlier this summer put an end to that. Now I've got to get in work mode and FAST! To add to matters, I'm going to start on my second college course (Programming in C part 2, I'm trying for a UNIX certification). Fortunately it's an online course, but I need to make time to study. I did alright in part 1 of the course, mainly due to
jspencer91
helping me every time I got stuck (which was a lot, but I do think I learned quite a bit, even though he insists he's not a good teacher).

Both kids have grown an amazing amount this summer. Alex is walking and babbling. He gets into EVERYTHING, but it's fun to watch him explore and learn. We're able to make out some of the words he says now, but we're still baffled most of the time still. He's becoming very independent, wanting to feed himself and figuring out how some of his toys work.

Maddy was away most of the summer, she got back from Maine on Sunday. She's grown too, but the changes are more subtle. She's matured, but wants to be a little girl still. Being 10 sure is tough.  She's going to try cheerleading this year, a co-worker coaches a team and is anxious to have Maddy join. She's not convinced she wants to do it, but is willing to try it, and I think that if nothing else, being around a group of girls her own age will be good for her. She goes to school with all boys, which really took a toll on her last year.
