Finally

This for naria, inspired by liz barr.

It took me long enough and hopefully I can pull off the rest of the drabbles I owe this month, though this turned into a full blown fic.

Fandom: Naruto
Title: Inevitable
Pairing: dark KakaSaku

She knows it is a certainty-- he will save her, he is the only one left to.

YOU HAVE MADE ME READ A SAKURA/KAKASHI FIC!

The boys fight and succeed, fail and bleed,

I love this line, I don't know why but I just do. It's so fitting.

I am pretty proud of my self for pushing this plot bunny out of my head. KakaSaku amuses me but I do not think it is likely to happen. Not with out some earth shattering event to force it into being.

Like Sakura and Naruto going after Sasuke, only for them to fall at each other's hand. Sakura survives but that is not saying much. Kakashi is the only one closest to Cell 7 to pick up the pieces.

It came form an image I had of a rain soaked Sakura standing over Sasuke's corpse with a kunai in her hand and saying "You are always late, Kakashi-sensei."

I really had trouble with that line. Glad you liked it.

For some reason, KakaSaku has never really lit up for me the way a few other het teacher/student (because for whyever in Naruto-dom, I only like the het teacher/student) pairings do. But I really like this anyway. It's an interesting writing style, and I like that it's about Team 7 (including Kakashi) rather than just Kakashi/Sakura.

KakaSaku is the only teacher/student dynamic I can stomach for the most part. GaiTen is down right bizarre and InoAsuma does not click with me. He works better with Kurenai in my view.

KakaSaku has the potiental for a better chemistry than most of my fave alt. pairings. She is smart, driven, affectionate, and has a sharp sense of humor and that offsets Kakashi's lazy genius and low key attitude pretty well. Not to mention, Sakura has never had the close relationship Kakashi shares with the boys-- it seems less incestous to me.

But I think that it would take rather dire circumstances for it to happen-- like Cell 7's mutual destruction.

I played with the future tense in the past and enjoyed the sense of futility and kismet it brought to the fic. Sakura is a smart cookie and probably can predict the future better than her teammates; she is not blinded by hard headed optimism or tunnel vision arrogance.

*worships you* You took (what is in my mind) a crack pairing and made it so very, very plausible. Now that I'm out of my art slump I think I can draw that image for you. <3

I am very happy with how this turned out. KakasSaku is a crack pairing, but one I can see happen under certain circumstances-- unlike IruKaka which makes me wince, I have seen that pairing done decent all of three times. Only three times.

I would adore you if you drew the scene. It would make my day.

You are a sweetie, you know that?

I like the ambiance and dread the future tense gives the story; Sakura can see how it will all play out but that does not mean she is happy about it.

I tried to display the divide between what Sakura knew and felt; as a ninja, she has been taught and trained to compartmentalize her emotions and act rationally no matter how stressful the stituation.

But that kind of division exacts a great toll on her soul and pysche; one she might never recover from fully.
