Vet run #2 today:
So I followed up with the Vet's office today and we're planning out how his treatment plan is going to go.. one step at a time.
The most important things are to get him hydrated and get food in him again.
So after some back and forth phone tag with their office they tell me I don't need to bring him in today, but let's get him started on at home stuff and go from there.
Nibby is currently on the following:
Sub-Q Fluids:
With instructions.
Also his first round of meds for his vomiting and Clavamox. Which seems to always be a miracle Elixir for him.
Those giant syringes are for his food. I get to mix a little bit of water with a good bit of food and force feed him.
Surprisingly, he's very good about it... but he isn't always able to keep it down. :( Just a little bit slowly every few hours.... and it'll be slow going for a while. This isn't even all of it yet, there are 3 more medications planned plus more vet visits.
His overall status right now hasn't changed to be honest, but we can't expect instant results I guess. He's gone down from 20~22lbs to 13-14 in less than 2 weeks so I'm still really concerned.
I've been keeping him by me all day away from his housemates, our other cats. (They, btw. all seem to be recovered from their lack of appetite/upset stomach/lethergic bouts since switching the food thank goodness. I think I'd go crazy if they'd all gotten this bad!)
This is him in his Nibby-Box. So as I've explained before he keeps wanting to hide everyday. which is really not like him at all.
But since I'm keeping him by me, my sewing room doesn't have any place where he can hide. So I've given him one of my stuffing boxes to hide in... and for the most part, he doesn't leave it.
After getting some fluids into him, he seemed to have a little more life in him. (and finally used the bathroom after nearly 4 days ;_; I was terrified his kidneys were going to shut down.. I mean, he could have gone while I was sleeping but while I'm awake he's just been a lump and hasn't moved from his hiding spots.)
You can kind of get a good look at how yellow his skin is especially in/around his ears. His nose is pretty yellow.. his gums are completely yellow..
But he finally did something Nibby-like! Even if it was very short.
He threw up shortly after this shot and promptly returned to lump status. :( and has not exerted himself in any way since.
I know I'm really happy about him just rolling over onto his back, but it just makes me so happy ;~;
So other than being annoyed over things constantly being stuffed down his throat.. he's being smothered in attention day in and day out so I think he's as content as he can be given the situation.
Thank you SO incredibly much to everyone who has been speading the word/donating/sending well wishes and praying for my buddy. We're definitely not out of the water yet and we have a long way to go so please wish us luck!
