Title: The Story
Pairing: Heechul/Gunhee
Rating: PG
Summary: Heechul tells his daughter a bedtime story. Child!AU.
A/N: DOUBLE TROUBLE. Two fics in a day. Does that make up for not writing for so long????? The title is really boring but it keeps with my m.o. of using ani difranco dongs for titles so. Also since Heechul and Gunhee are younger most of this the haircut Gunhee gives Heechul is this one

“And they lived happily ever after. The end,” Heechul sets down the book and is met with Heeyeon still staring at him with wide eyes, her bed's comforter pulled up to her nose. “You're still up?”

“I'm not tired yet,” Heeyeon says.

“Want me to read you another story?” Heechul asks, glancing over the bookcase filled with various children's stories, mostly fairy tales.

“I know all those daddy,” Heeyeon says, “Can you tell me a different story?”

“What kind of story do you want to hear?”

“Will you tell me how you and papa met?” Heeyeon asks eagerly.

“How we met, huh?” Heechul says thoughtfully, “Okay. Um...once upon a time-”

Gunhee couldn't believe that the salon he worked at was chosen to do hair for a spread in a fashion magazine.

He almost had a conniption when his boss told him he had chosen Gunhee to be the hairstylist.

Despite his nerves it definitely wasn't an opportunity he could turn down.

Actually, other than the change of setting it wasn't much different from working at the salon. Sure there were all kind of people running around him, but as long as he stayed in his designated area it didn't affect him. And the models were relatively nice, they didn't talk to him much and spent more time conversing with each other, but that also meant they weren't complaining about their hair.

“When is the boss supposed to get here?” the girl whose hair he was doing asked the girl next to her who was waiting for her turn.

“Not for a long time, hopefully,” the other girl replied.

“Yeah, he's so-”

The one girl quickly shushed the other. “He's here!”

The two went silent and in curiosity Gunhee looked at the mirror so he could see the man who just walked into the studio. He was really good looking. Gunhee thought he should be a model, but he doubted it since the girls referred to him as boss.

The man disappeared from sight before Gunhee could get too good of a look, striding to the opposite side of the room where the set was.

Gunhee pushed the man out of his mind and continued his work.

He had finished everyone's hair and stood kind of awkwardly, wondering what he was supposed to do in this situation. No one exactly trained him for this.

He was thinking about just having a seat and waiting when the man from earlier walked up to him.

He should be the one in the magazine Gunhee thought. He was just as good looking up close as he was from far away, but Gunhee didn't have time to appreciate this before the man shifted the clipboard and pen he was holding to one hand, holding out the other for Gunhee to shake.

“Kim Heechul, I'm in charge of overseeing photoshoots. For now,” Heechul mumbled the last part which made Gunhee think he wasn't supposed to hear it, but he did anyway.

“Jeon Younghun,” Gunhee replied, taking the proffered hand, “I go by Gunhee though.”

“So is Gunhee what you would like to be credited as then?” Heechul asked, taking up the clipboard again, pen at the ready.

“Um, pardon?” Gunhee asked, not understanding.

“What name should we use for who did the hair?” Heechul asked.

“You actually put my name in the magazine?” Gunhee asked, surprised.

“You're new, huh?” Heechul asked, smiling slightly, “Of course we do. Hair is a very important part of the entire look and it's our duty to inform the readers the talent behind them. Not to mention give credit where credit is due.

“Okay, just put it under Gunhee then,” Gunhee said.

Heechul nodded and scribbled on his clipboard. “Great, we're going to start the shoot in a few minutes and we'll need to you stick around in case we need any touch-ups. You can just hang out until then. Don't worry we'll let you know when you can go. Got all that newbie?” Heechul smirked playfully at him.

Gunhee swallowed, feeling a bit warm under Heechul's stare. “Yeah, thanks.”

“One more thing,” Heechul said, tapping his pen to his chin, “Your work is very good if what you did today is anything to go by. Don't be so surprised that it is worth putting your name in a magazine over. Always take pride in your work.”

“I will,” Gunhee promised. He wasn't sure he believed it yet, but Heechul was very persuasive.

“Nice meeting you,” Heechul said and turned in his heels, wandering off to wear the models and cameramen were waiting.

Once Gunhee could no longer feel Heechul's overwhelming presence Gunhee collapsed in his chair.

A month later and Gunhee's life was normal as usual, with the added bonus of having a magazine with his name in it prominently displayed on an end table for customers to peruse.

The magazine had been given to the salon for free as well as a copy for Gunhee. He kept the magazine at his home on a bookshelf. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it by framing it or something. But it was pretty cool to look at his name in it. Not to mention good for impressing his parents and bragging rights against his brother and sister.

Not that he thought about it a lot. Especially during another busy day at the salon. He was at the tail end of a dye job and enjoying the thought of a break now that there was no one else waiting.

Gunhee glanced at the front of the building to check that there wasn't a wait and had to do a double take. Standing just outside the door was Kim Heechul.

Heechul squinted at the name on the salon door and then double checked the name he had written on a scrap of paper, making sure it matched.

Finding the name of the salon wasn't hard of course, it was in the latest issue of the fashion magazine he worked for after all.

Therefore it was not at all suspicious that he was here. Gunhee had done a great job on the hair for the main spread and Heechul wanted to see how his hair would turn out if Gunhee did it. Sure, he also wanted to see the unbelievably cute hairstylist again too, but no one had to know that but him.

Gunhee turned away from the entrance and went back to work, pretending not to see Heechul.

He noticed one of his co-workers, the only one without a customer at the moment, going up to great Heechul.

“Welcome.”

“Hello.”

“Gunhee is currently working with someone, you'll have to wait a bit if you want him to work on you.”

“That's fine. I'll wait.”

Gunhee tensed. Heechul had requested him to be his stylist? It made sense if Heechul was going to try a different salon he would want someone who he knew would do a good job Gunhee supposed. Then again, if the magazine Heechul worked for picked this salon Heechul would know that all the stylists here were very good at their jobs.

Gunhee tried not to think too hard about it.

Finishing with his current customer, Gunhee checked the clipboard at the front desk and called Heechul's name like they didn't know each other and he didn't know Heechul was waiting specifically for him.

“Hello again,” Heechul greeted. He put down the magazine he was flipping though, which Gunhee noticed was the one he worked for, and walked up to the counter.

“Hello,” Gunhee replied. He gestured to his work area. “This way please.”

“I really was impressed with your work,” Heechul said, sitting down, “So I wanted to see what you could do with this mess.”

“It's not a mess,” Gunhee assured, smoothing out Heechul's long black hair, “Just a little choppy. What kind of cut are you going for?”

“I just want a bit cut off,” Heechul said, “I like having long hair so nothing too drastic, but I want to look stylish, you know?”

“I think I have just the thing,” Gunhee replied.

Gunhee and Heechul chatted quite a bit while Heechul's hair was washed, cut, and styled. Mostly about work, but Gunhee had never enjoyed talking to a customer before even just talking about such banal things.

Their conversation died down as Gunhee put the finishing touches on Heechul's hair.

“You have beautiful hair,” Gunhee said, unthinkingly.

“You think so?” Heechul asked, tilting his head, “Everyone at work keeps telling me to cut it, but they don't know anything about style.”

Gunhee chuckled at the idea of no one working for a fashion magazine having any style. “I do think so. You're...it's...your hair is beautiful.”

Very smooth, Gunhee thought to himself.

“Thank you,” Heechul said.

“It's done,” Gunhee said, putting down his comb and hairspray.

Gunhee turned the chair around so Heechul could finally see himself in the mirror.
“Wow,” Heechul said, leaning forward, “This is really good.”

Gunhee was tempted to brush off the compliment, but then he remembered Heechul's parting words from their first meeting. “It's what I do,” Gunhee instead said confidently.

Heechul looked at him in the mirror and smiled. “I noticed.”

They went to the counter so Heechul could pay and give Gunhee a generous tip. On top of the bills Heechul handed to Gunhee though was a business card. The card seemed to be related to the magazine, but Gunhee turned it over and saw Kim Heechul and a phone number handwritten on it.

Surprised, Gunhee looked up at Heechul, but the other man was already making at exit.

“Call me when you're free,” Heechul said with a wink before opening the door and exiting.

Gunhee looked from the door to the card a couple of times and then realized he had to take a seat again.

“And they lived happily ever after. The end.” Heechul looks at Heeyeon again to see her fast asleep.

Satisfied, Heechul kisses her forehead and leaves his daughter's room, turning off the lights and closing the door quietly behind him.

Gunhee is leaning against the wall across from the door, smirking.

“What?” Heechul asks, suspicious.

“You're so cute,” Gunhee gushes, wrapping his arms around Heechul and squeezing him tightly.

“Fuck off,” Heechul says, pretending to be grumpy.

“How did you know the stuff that happened when you weren't there.”

“Shut up!”
