Ungh, Work Fridays!
I love Fridays, but hate Work Fridays. Case in point: I finished my work for the day at 9:30 this morning. Cue the loud groan.
So! Some Things I Have Noticed and/or Will Talk About To Pass The Time.
1. Aciphex, the new medicine for acid reflux disease
I see the play on the word "acid" there in the drug's title, but didn't anyone listen to the name of this product when they named it? I was getting dressed this morning with the TV on in the background, and if you didn't see the name of the drug, you would wonder why "Ass Effects" can help you. Because that is how it's pronounced. Marketing fail!
2. Fan fiction awards have been around for years, but just once, once, I'd love to have awards where ONLY unknowns will be considered. They all turn into popularity contests, with names even I recognize. And I admit to mostly only writing fic; I read on extremely rare occasions. What is the point to popular people and their popular fics (because they are written by someone popular) winning popularity contests?
3. I've only recently discovered things like fandom wanks and fandom secrets and things like that. I find them interesting, if only because people are so absolutely insane about these things that I find my obsessions over the years pale in comparison. I don't care about the actors' real lives. I don't care that some people like one type of fic and hate the other. I don't care that some people hate characters. I like TV; I am Zen about everything else surrounding it. If you want to write about Spike from Buffy and Edward from Twilight having sex and killing all the other vampires from True Blood and then celebrating with Nick from Forever Knight, knock yourself out! Who gives a shit about canon/fanon/fandom hates? God people, it's just entertainment.
