Dear everyone in the world:
Never say that you have a migraine unless you understand what you're saying.
Never say that migraines are "just headaches".
My mother and I spent hours in the ER this morning because she had a migraine so intense that she could barely move. Having the light in her hospital room turned on briefly made her vomit for fifteen minutes.
Migraines are a
neurological condition. Headaches are a symptom.
When I told the triage nurse she had a migraine, he cut me off and let the woman who had arrived just before us, who was getting a flu vaccine, go ahead of us. My mother was shaking and sobbing and in a wheelchair because she couldn't stand.
So yeah. Big thanks to every asshole out there who has ever claimed to have a migraine when it's just a bad headache.
