New Years Benediction
I was privileged to attend the Amanda Palmer and the Boston Pops New Years concert. As Amanda is dating Neil Gaiman he was there to play chainsaw and give the benediction. Here is an imperfect recording:

Amanda's performance was fantastic, it was the best concert I have been to, though in a way I love the intimacy of her smaller concerts... and I miss Brian's drums. She did a cover of Hurt by NIN, and it was on the level of the Johnny Cash version. She wept while singing it...as did we all. On a more up beat note she also covered Lady Gaga's Poker Face, along with most of the cast of The Slutcracker... all dressed as different versions of Lady Gaga! In the middle of the song she began changing the lyrics and drifted into a literary deconstruction of the song... the orchestra trailed off and all the dancers stopped one by one till she was just standing there reading this devastating critique... then she finished and they all went back to singing the song as Amands walked around the stage pulling off their blond wigs transforming them all into individuals... very cool.
