::RhumbaTecH:: BootCamp...

When Apple decided to switch to using Intel processors for their computers, Mac users all over the world thought that hell had just frozen. However, heaven must be burning right now cause Apple has officially released a program that will allow their computers to boot in Microsoft Windows. This is not an April Fool's joke. Ever since Apple started using Intel Processors, there has been speculation on the capability to run Microsoft Windows on it, with even a few enthusiastic programmers managing to do just that. However the big surprise is when Apple themselves decide to do it as well.

The program named BootCamp (click to be directed to website), actually allows the user to have an option of booting their Intel Processor Mac with their choice of 'good-old' OS X, or the 'evil' MS. At the moment it's a BETA version though so there may be a few hiccups with the drivers and all.

The Genius of Mac

I foresee a certain Genius in Apple's decision to release this program to the masses. Before, the only way you can get Windows running on an Apple Computer is via emulation, which is extremely system hoggin. Mac users often missed out on the latest games, or useful software. However, with this capability to boot in Windows, Windows PCs are not special anymore. Mac users can do what the PC users are doing and more! PC users who are experimenting to go over to Mac will not be so afraid to do so anymore as they have the Windows OS to fall back on. Home users who would like the stability of Apple's OS would be pleased to know that they can still buy the latest games to play. In fact, this is probably a form of Apple evangelism to the people. People can see for themselve on hand the difference between booting into Mac OS X and booting into Windows. Apple has got to be pretty confident of their OS to even dare do this.

Apple is going to make money selling more computers from this gimmick, and will even win new fans along the way. So I once again salute the marketing geniuses behind Apple, and start drooling at the beautiful iMacs.
