Quite sometime ago I did a review on the
Xs'Drive Super (above) which I bought from my colleague who was leaving Taiwan. It has certainly served me well, disappointment only coming from the battery life which was horrible. Even if you charged it to full one day, after not touching it for three days or so, the battery would strangely be eaten up. There had been a few critical moments where my dependability on the device lead me to miss out on taking some great pictures as my memory card became full and the stupid device refuse to start.
Introducing, the successor to the Xs'drive Super, the
Vosonic VP6230. It is the same as its predeccessor, a multimedia casing for your 2.5" harddisk. The original purpose of both devices was to function as a quick memory card back-up for those heavy duty digital photographers who needed a place to store their full memory cards. A must have for holiday goers too. After storing your photos, you get to browse through them, and can even watch certain video formats. On top of that, the device also functions as a Digital Audio Player where you can store your MP3s and you can listen to your hearts' content (or till the battery dies).
The difference between the two is firstly the new smooth design obviously. The VP6230 is slimmer in width (but still equally thick) and has a larger LCD screen. The white design was screaming out to me "BUY ME" as I realized what a nice looking companion it would be next to my Dopod 585. The VP6230 just looks better. It even comes in two other colours, silver and red.
Another difference would be the VP6230's capability to read a formatted 100GB hard drive partition. The Super irritatingly can only read partitions of 20GB max. The VP6230 also has voice recording function, and line-in recording function.
Anyway, I have not had the chance to test much of the device yet, but will be doing so the next few days. So far, battery life looks promising but it's still too early to tell. Pray that this device will last me a long time too.
