Woo! Progress! This morning I nailed that left diagonal about 98% of the time booyah! I rode Sham this morning and Smoke and Kissy this afternoon. Sham had issues with the roundpen gate, we'll have to work on it. Did lots of trotting to find my left diagonal, I could really feel it this morning. I guess after Lady, any horse is going to be blaringly clear. Anyway, I even got a couple canter steps on the circle, woo! It's a work in progress, it's better than anything I've gotten before.
I took Smoke on a trail ride, for the most part he was a good boy. He likes out driveway, cause it's flat and long, and he can go fast. He always has to go back and walk home, but he still likes it for going fast. He seems to be in better condition already, so that's good.
Kissy is a very uncomfortable horse to ride when she's not warmed up. Poor girl, she needs someone who knows what they're doing to ride her. Once she was all warmed up she was rounding, and she's got a very Arab-like trot, very springy. She seriously makes me wonder how much TB blood she actually has in her. First time I laid eyes on her I thought "Arab". Except, she looks like a TB, too. Maybe she's a cross. Maybe she's got Arab blood close in her pedigree. I'd like to see her papers. o.O
Logan got me on the leg, clipped me with his foot, damn it hurts. It's going to be a very nice bruise, first one of the season woo! We were working on picking his feet up, and he was trying to pull his foot out of my hand, and got my leg. Oh well. He'll be good with consistancy, it's been a while since I did anything about it, but I think he's starting to figure out that yes, he CAN stand on three legs, he's "getting" it quicker every time I do anything with his feet. He's a good boy. A BRAT, though, it's HIM that unhooks all the gates. I should have known. The little ass opened the gate on his side of the gate this morning while I was riding Sham and he got in the little grassy area and was eating the grass. I had to tie the gate shut with a lead rope.
The half chaps I ordered weren't in stock, so I inquired about the Ariat All Around 1/2 chaps that they've got at Greenhawk. If they've got them, I'll get them. It'll cost more than I had been wanting to spend, but I want 1/2 chaps. I can't afford custom boots right now, besides the fact that there's not time for customs. I'll do the best I can.
Went out and rode Lady tonight, it was kind of nice, it was just me and her, and we got some communication going on. I'm starting to figure her out :-) Dawnna was out getting hay but she said I could ride Lady anyway. Woot! I did a lot of sitting trot, trying to feel that left diagonal. I'm discovering that it's not particularly the fact that I have problems feeling it, a lot of it has to do with the fact that even when I say "sit rise sit rise sit rise..." it gets mixed up in my brain and I sit when I'm supposed to be rising. It's interesting. So I did a lot of just trying to feel it, and I was starting to get it fairly good just sitting. I even nailed a couple left diagonals posting woo!
Needless to say, I'm pretty tired tonight. So I'm off to bed. I'm helping Dad in the morning, I'll ride at some point in the day.
