I was in an accident today....
I was in an accident today and in a rare turn of events, it was not my fault! Daphne and I weren't hurt, but my car is and I am a little shaken up.
It happened a few hours ago, but I didn't start falling apart till we got home and I'm super proud of that! I turned left while the elderly lady on the inside turning lane went straight. She ran into the left side of my car and I am so very glad Daphne sits on the right side!
While I wrote down all of her insurance info, the elderly lady informed me that it was actually the government's fault. According to her, two green arrows pointing left ought to mean one should enter the freeway, which is straight ahead. All other drivers (including myself) who have used this particular traffic signal since it was installed, have misunderstood it. I didn't bother to inform her that if someone like me (who is a moving traffic violation) could understand what those two green arrows meant, she ought not to be driving.
We cannot control these things in our lives, but we can control how we use the time we have. I've just been reminded of how fortunate I am and I hope I don't forget soon.
