Of chores I'd have rather ignored, but I went ahead and did them anyway.
I kept the washing machine busy before I left the house. [I had excellent luck finding some lovely dress fabric this week at the Goodwill, so all of it needed a cold water wash. I put my own clothing on to wash just before I left.]
While I was waiting for the laundry to finish, I scurried around tending other things: I rounded up a huge shopping bag full of books to donate, I rounded up the presser foot off my sewing machine in hopes of finding a zig-zag foot to match the machine when I went to see the sewing machine repair lady, and I made a couple medical calls to make an appointment and get some lab orders requested.
Hubby had an itchy rash of irritating chores all his own to deal with so he mostly stayed out of my hair. [I was quite relieved! The last thing I needed was for him to do a reenactment of Bart Simpson asking me 20,000+ Q's! ]
Once I had my fabric tended, I put my clothing on to wash and got out of the house like a burglar--quickly!
I saw the tree trimmers hard at work just up the road from my house, but decided not to stop. For one thing the traffic was unusually heavy and for another, a pair of idiots had decided they just had to have a wreck right beside the tree trimmers. I doubted the tree trimmers needed anyone else hanging around right then, so I kept right on moving.
I got over to the Goodwill store and handed over all the books. (They seemed pleased to get them.) I did some prowling of my own and found a couple of sweaters and some dark green suede cloth. Best of all, while I was at the Goodwill, I got a surprise call from one of my doctors: They'd sent in my lab order for my thyroid testing and it was there, ready and waiting, and YES! I had plenty of time to go and donate my pint for the vampires before they closed for the day.
I paid for my Goodwill goodies and I boogied over to the hospital and from there, down to the basement, where my favorite vampires dwell.
When you've had as much blood drawn as I've had, you learn to value a proper vampire with sharp fangs who can hit a vein properly the first time without having to do a bunch of conjuration.
I'm proud to say, my favorite vampire went right to work with her butterfly needle, hit that vein properly, filled the tube, and backed out in less than two minutes. She wrapped me up with the bandage webbing and then sent me out the door.
I then went over to sewing machine repair lady's place. I could easily spend thousands of dollars in her fabric shop--she has those big decorative fabric panels you generally only see in quilt shows--already in quilts.
It turned out that she didn't have any presser feet to fit my machine currently in stock, but she did have some bobbins and a case for five dollars, and a set of needles for another five. I was happy to give her my business. After all, it was either her, or a forty-five minute trip one-way to Joann's.
I finished up my gallivant with a score on some fresh fried catfish.
Hubby was very happy to get the fish. I even got a welcome home kiss!
And now I'm back to tending laundry. I'm washing my new (to me) sweaters and dark green fabric.
EDIT: I've caught up with all the laundry and dirty dishes for the moment.
But now it's time for me to go to bed and check my eyelids for holes.
Nighty-nite!
