Politics in the modern age

Oh my God. There is still a month til elections, and I am already SO SICK of the damn political ads. If the fools running for office took half the money they are spending on their stupid and annoying ads that say basically nothing about what they are standing for (though manage to attack the other candidate) and donated that money to a charity or to the state budget or whatever, the world would be a better place. The one idiot only seems to make ads that attack the opponent (heck, I think the ads say the other guy's name more than they say the name of the actual candidate they are supporting) and the other idiot has ads rebutting the other guy but also a few that mention what he stands for. But honestly, quit telling me what is wrong with the "other guy" and tell me what you propose to do. I don't think Lincoln got elected by saying, "Oh, that other dude, he's a crazy liar. {pause} Paid for by Lincoln for President." I mean, what have we learned about both the candidates from that? But then again, when you are trying to appeal to the unwashed masses, you have to scare them with the whole "That dude is crazy and trying to bring back square wheels!" rather than actually stating that you have a new wheel idea and it is really awesome. Though part of me wants to disregard any issues and figure out which one has more ads than the other and then vote for the other so that the one's money was all wasted. Serve him right.

But anyway, a month to go and political ad overload has already set in.
