The Vampire Diaries was freaking awesome tonight!

Where to begin?

~ For one thing, Bonnie!  Bonnie, being badass, and awesome, and reconnecting with Caroline, and working with DAMON!

~ How cute were Caroline and her mother bonding?  Except, like Caroline, I had to wonder if it was real, or if her mother was playing her in order to avoid being compelled.  Even though I knew she had to do it, I still felt very sad for Caroline when she had to compel her.

~ Damon was even more...Damon, than usual in this episode.  I knew Mason was dead the moment Bonnie left Damon alone with him.  She's the only one who could have maybe stopped him, and I bet once she finds out Damon killed Mason once he got the information he wanted, she's going to be pissed, since she helped put Mason there.

~ OMG THE SNAKES!!!!!  I don't like them, but I'm not normally as scared of them as that scene made me.  I actually had to shut my eyes and do the heebie jeebie dance during that.

~ OMG JENNA!  Clever, Katherine, Clever.

~ Yep, faking it wasn't ever good enough, kids.  Does anyone know what Damon said to Elena as she was leaving?  The damn song was so loud I couldn't make it out.  Man, Damon's face when he saw her, saw how devastated she was.  You'd think he'd be pleased as punch to see her breaking up with Stefan for real, but her pain is actually Damon's pain - he loves her, as unselfishly as he's capable of.  AWESOME.

~ And yes, we all knew Katherine's next step would be to make herself a new werewolf.  But MATT!  NO!  They better not kill Matt!  Actually, given Katherine's earlier interest in him, I'm kind of surprised she's discarding Matt so soon.  But seriously - HE BETTER NOT DIE!

Great episode.  This show is so incredibly good.

Also, what's this BS about the network "revamping" Nikita already?  Adding more humor??  A new love interest???  WTF, CW.  Your "new hit series" isn't enough of a hit for you, so you're going to, in typical network fashion, "fix" something that isn't broken, and no doubt break it in the process.  More humor?  I mean come on!  It's not that type of show!  It's dark - that's Nikita!  If you wanted humor, you shouldn't have used Nikita as your story base.  And there's already plenty of shippy opportunities for fans (Owen, Michael) for Nikita, or for Alex, for that matter (Thom, Michael).

/end rant

Speaking of Nikita, tonight's episode was also very good.  Too bad that is likely to go downhill once the network execs get their way with this "revamp".
