Update on my adventures in henna.

We did another coat to my hair, which had gone from bleached highlights to medium blond or so the first time:

That was better, but not dark enough.  My roots were still pretty obvious, and I wanted deeper color.  It probably would've done better had I left it on for longer.  3 1/2 hours is just not long enough.  4-6 is better.

Here my hair is after the second application, done this week.  Nicely warm and brown.  Brown with coppery highlights, in fact.  Very autumn!

The difference from the first pic to the last is stunning.  And my hair does not feel all brittle and straw-like as it does after chemicals. I am thrilled.  It could go a shade darker, but I'll leave it on longer next time, which should be about 6 weeks from now.  I left it on for 4 hours this time, and I also used slightly more Caca marron than the brun, since I wanted some reddish undertones, and last time got none.  I got exactly what I was after.  This product gets two solid thumbs up from me, despite the mess.  It's absolutely worth it!
