American Idol - Top 24: The Guys

Feb 20, 2008 06:43

I fell asleep fifteen minutes before the show ended, so I didn’t see the last two (Jason Castro and Michael Johns) perform. Which is sucky, because I really wanted to see both of them. But I taped it, so I’ll try to watch it before tonight’s show.

This is not in the order of performance, just in the order I’m remembering them.

David Archuleta - I’m really impressed with this kid. Especially knowing that he had vocal chord problems at one time, this kid just knocked it out of the park last night. He’s a really good singer, and he has great stage presence. And he’s only seventeen.

Chickezie Eze - Okay, he can really sing, and he’s got the cutest dimples. But I have to agree with Simon about the suit. It was hideous. It's never a good idea to argue with Simon, but I’m glad CE reminded him that it was sixties night, because I didn’t realize it was, and when he came out wearing that orange thing, I said, “what the hell is he wearing?”

Danny Noriega - I liked his performance last night. Apparently I’m the only one who did. Simon said it was hideous. I have to disagree, because I thought the kid sounded really good. The only problem with him is that I can see already that he’s going to be the next Sanjaya (except he has a much better voice than Sanjaya).

David Hernandez - I can see his appeal, and he’s got a good voice, but I’m already meh about him. Quite honestly, I don’t mind if he’s one of the first to be voted off.

Robbie Carrico - I, um, really like him. He’s the kind of cute rocker guy I would have had a huge crush on in my twenties. (I still like that type, I just try not to date them anymore.) I really like his voice, too, and have ever since he sang Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” at his audition. I was going to vote for him, but I fell asleep.

David Cook - He was pretty good last night. I like him, but so far I don’t have a lot to say about him.

Colton Berry - I’m sorry, who? He’s pretty much instantly forgettable. He’s an okay singer, but, I have to say, if he’s one of the first to go, I won’t be sorry. I’m actually hoping he is, so we get better singers in the game longer.

Garrett Haley - Look, it’s Leif Garrett! Okay, I have to be honest, if I were thirteen, I would so be crushing on him. But I haven’t been thirteen for, um, a very long time, and although I can’t help but have sort of a nostalgic fondness for someone I would have been obsessed with in eighth grade, I’m kind of meh about him.

Luke Menard - Damn, he’s cute. And he can sing, although I wish he’d sang a different song. Didn’t Paula say he reminded her of Kenny Loggins? I agree (and this is not a bad thing, btw, I’ve liked KL for years. Shut up.). I have a feeling he won’t last long, though, unless he gets a lot of sympathy votes - Simon gave him a serious smackdown last night.

Jason Yeager - Sorry, another great big meh.

I’m really sorry I missed Jason Castro and Michael Johns. I saw Michael Johns audition, and I thought he was great, but I haven’t seen much of Jason Castro yet, and I have a feeling he’s going to be one of my favorites, judging by an early clip I saw on YouTube. I’m so glad I remembered to tape it, because I’d really like to catch up tonight.
