Managed to get over to the school, managed to find someone (Kim Kleckner) in the art office, armed with a pen, happy to sign my form, managed indeed to get into the campus cops and drop off their copy. I'm so proud. The parking lot was a mess for spring term, post-three in the afternoon. It is, however, the first week of term and people actually pretend they will be attending their classes ever after. Managed also to remember to ask someone at the campus cops what "guests" means in point three. An elderly lady came out to say she was going home and her co-worker asked her. She said "it means everybody who's not you," looking at me. "Let's say you're signed in and someone else is there but we don't have them listed and something goes missing--who's going to get blamed?" Good point. In cases where someone stays after class and Pat knows about it, I'm probably covered. But weekend work, that's another issue. Hmmm, but I could always call the campus cops and say we're here swing on by and let whoever shows up check IDs. Another good reason to bring snacks. And cookies. Homebaked cookies. Yum.
Dropped in Avalon Beads. It proved to be the usual waste of time such trips are. Avalon, once again rising to the heights of customer non-service. Gotta love 'em. I might be giving Dr. Woodruff a call and see what he has on hand in the way of moonstones and such. I'll make sure I have the requisite chased wedge t-folds with me, the ones I'm thinking of adding bezels and cabs to. I'm thinking of cutting the whatsit? platform? base part of the whole bezel construct big and then going melty on it so that it balls up and gets funky and organic. Don't know if I should set the bezel on it first. And I'm going round and round about whether to use gold bezel strip or fine silver. Such decisions. Always difficult. Should also look into ambers for Nikki's funky, organic, keumbooed earring/ear cuff, whatever the hell it turns out to be.
I am so out of the loop when it comes to bezels that I didn't even realize that they sell pre-fabbed ones. Well, duh, what a concept. What a great idea! Karen has a whole passel of opals (jealous much) in loads of sizes, including itty bitty ones, perfect for tiny, circumspect neat and tidy little earrings. Barbie could make bezels for stones that small. Me, not so much. But pre-fabbed, wow. Wow!
Don't know if it is an effect of the closure of that bit of the north road, though I suspect it is at least partially responsible, but 83rd was at a crawl. Again, it's the first week of term and people are actually showing up and people like me are taking care of start of term business. It was a mess. Not that that's a big problem for me. I don't travel 83rd often, nor am I likely to be there that time of day.
I'm wondering when they'll put the poster out with all the show dates and the deadlines for entry and stuff. Doubt that I'll have anything "innovative" to enter into the League show. Doubt that I want to. Still no word on the apology letter from Valerie. I will speak to Pat yet again. I think I know which Valerie this is but would hate to make a mistake. Maybe I should just go to Alora Haynes. Nothing has been done at all. And it's not that hard nowadays what with computers and printers and such. It's not like she has to go to the Agora and find a scribe for crying out loud.
