Megaplex Post-Con Report

Jul 27, 2009 14:41

Wow, what a weekend.

This weekend was like a blur of awesome. I remember bits of it, but so much happened, so many things were done, so many varied emotions were had from anxiety to joy.

For the con, being the staff member of the game room, it was probably one of the easiest things to take care of. Mostly, I sat around, played some games with folks, and occasionally cleaned up some empty cups from the tables and turned down the speakers when the folks played Rock Band too loud. Mostly, the attendies made it easy to take care of the room, and when I wasn't there, Security made sure everything was good during that time.

The Game Room became an unofficial Zoo, with a ton of tables available, folks just naturally congregated to it, to sit down, relax, chat, and just otherwise have a good time socializing. Oh, sure, there was a 360 and a Wii to play too, as well as some good classic board games, but all in all, folks just came in, and if they wanted to play they could, or they could just hang out. I enjoyed that fact. It made the game room less a room and more of a hang out for folks wanting to sit down and relax.

Brace Bear from the Con Suite had a lot to do with me getting back to Jax safe and sound, with a trip to Wally World for some Stop Leak. The radiator wasn't leaking by the time I got to Daytona, where I stopped for lunch. There was a little excess that had been sprayed forth, but the Stop Leak stopped the leak. So yeah, Brace Bear saved my fuzzy tail.

I got to surprise JR, aka Poink T. Weasel, with a gift of a Guitar Hero 2 guitar as well as well as an unopened copy of Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock POINK. JR had his apartment broken into a month or so ago, and well, it didn't sit well with me that the thief made off with his guitar hero guitars and his console. So, me, being the ferret of everything video game-ish, I had 4 video game guitars. My old GH2 guitar, my wired Rock Band guitar, and 2 wireless GH guitars. The GH2 guitar was one I didn't use much, especially since I have the wireless ones, but on the plus side, it's a TOTALLY solid guitar that I've never had a problem with, so I figured it was the best choice to give to JR, since I honestly didn't need 4 guitars. So yeah, he was totally stoked, and that made me happy. Santa Gamer Ferret strikes again! Muhahahahahah.

Oh, I even got to run the spotlight during the Funday Pawpet Show on Sunday. Kage and KP had some very interesting humor going on right before the show, and it was absolutely hilarious to watch. I hope the folks watching on Ustream got to enjoy it too, because I know we were laughing our tails off.

So yeah, I'm sure I'll remember more about the event. It was just so much of an awesome blur, that I can't even think clearly on this post-con high. Till then... I'm going to go take care of a few things. Mainly laundry and putting my entertainment center back together.
