This week's featured article is
Panda Panda, SE8 4PA, a cafe selling Vietnamese baguettes and snacks on Deptford Broadway at the
New Cross end of
Deptford.
While Deptford has a number of other Vietnamese restaurants and cafes, Panda Panda differs somewhat from the norm in that it's rather more modern and accessible in style - it's clean, you can see in from the outside, and it has free wireless. Foodwise, I'm not 100% convinced that it has the best banh mi or the best summer rolls in the area, but it's certainly a contender.
Notable additions to RGL in the past week include the
Cartoon Museum in Bloomsbury and
Kamil Speciality Foods in Park Royal.
Reported closures are the
Royal Oak in Bexleyheath (actually been closed for some time),
Blubeckers at the Hare in Harrow, and the
Star in Hillingdon.
The
Abercorn Arms in Stanmore also closed at the beginning of this year, but is slated to open again at some point following "substantial rebuilding and extension". Finally, the
Grape and Grain in Crystal Palace reopened today following a brief closure in connection with the Jack Beard's chain going into administration (the licensees have taken on the lease).
