Thank God for Karl and Theo Albrecht!

Just returned from the Grand opening of our very own Aldi Food store! Before today we had to drive 25 minutes north or 25 to 30 minutes south to reach the nearest store. We *do* have a Save-A-Lot on the south side of town, but you really dont, save a lot. Curiously enough, they built right next door to the local Meijer store. I'm wondering how this is going to work out. *ponders silently for a moment* Oh well, time will tell.

Today we saved a little over $25 on the staples; milk, bread, can goods, bottled water, some frozen items we like to stock up on and a few snack/treat items because it was affordable! It also helped that they had a coupon in the weekly circular for $5 off your bill if you spent $30 or more. Additional savings on top of low prices? Heck yeah! Sign me up! :-)

And although the place was packed to the gills, people were making up parking spaces, like the guy who parked in front of the delivery bay, *winces*, he wasn't happy when they told him he had to move because a delivery was expected any minute. At any rate, despite the crowd, it was not a bad experience. They had samples of various food stuffs throughout the store, so it wasn't such a chore to wait for your turn at the milk cooler. Checkout lines were very long but they had every lane open and the cashiers were moving along at a decent pace.

Not an experience I would enjoy repeating every other week or so, but for the Grand Opening, it was worth it.

In other news; *gasp!* *wheeze!* *struggle!* *cough!*

Man is it awful humid! The National Weather Service reports only 50% humidity with a heat index of only 80 degrees for an actual temp of 79. You couldn't prove this by me. I can tell I'm going to need my inhaler when we get in the van here in just a few minutes.

*Sheesh!*
