Mind you, I'm not talking about particularly exciting cooking; basically I've moved from "boil-in-a-bag rice" to "remove the rice from the boiling bag and try cooking it in something," in this case chicken soup. I had to look up what Dinty Moore stew is. Personally, I prefer chicken and rice over beef and rice, but that's probably habit. :)

Dinty Moore is nostalgia food for me; it was pretty much a staple of all my Boy Scout camping trips. It's pretty good for canned food.

Provided, that is, that four different people don't walk past the campfire and, without actually tasting the stew, decide to add pepper. When you can actually see the flakes of pepper floating in the stew . . .

I have nothing against canned food, I've just never had that particular one. I'm rather fond of Campbell's tomato.

Recalling a previous remark from you about "Don't interfere with the meat," it occurs to me that at some point you might want a slow cooker. :)

Heh. Well, maybe it'll turn up. :) I'm very fond of mine, but then, I am perhaps an overly hands-off cook.

Then again, at least I don't wander by and randomly add pepper. ;)

Better to have someone add pepper than to wander by and think it would be funny to add a scoop of ashes to your stew.
